Dark Souls

Woot woot ! Rang the first bell. T_T

Goodbye Gargoyles...

Also killed Channeler, Heavy Knight, the Black Knight on top of the tower, and one shot Hellkite.

Died in the hands of Capra Demon and his 2 pets.

I need to buy rat poison to kill the damn dogs.

They aren't immune at all. They just won't die permanently
as long as the necromancers (which don't respawn) are still around. I just used my most powerful weapon to get their health down and then quickly switched to my divine weapon to deliver the killing blow. Once the necromancers are dealt with you can use any weapon you want. Skeletons don't like blunt weapons, especially fiery ones.

Made myself an awesome weapon by the way. I believe it's called
Moonlight Crystal Shield. That thing is basically easy mode.

Wait... so you can repair a Crystal weapon *after* it broke ?

That was some poor wording on my part. Crystal weapons can't be repaired ever.

That Capra Demon was a pretty good fight. I would not like to take that thing on with a magic build.

About
Blightown.
It's like a slideshow of
world 5-2.
The framerate is really getting in the way of the gameplay there.

Ok, so I take it that Sigfried's Crystal Shield is an upgradable, unique weapon.

Yeah... Guide says cast spell from top of the stairs, but I doubt there's any chance with those dogs. The Demon can walk up the stairs too despite what the guide says. Looks like I have to roll and guard like mad, and then hopefully get some hits in. 8^(

No worries, I can repair my awesome shield. Crystal is just the name. I still carry another shield with me because the CS has shitty physical defense and poor stability. The main purpose of the CS is its ridiculously damaging L2-attack

Jeez, I just need to vent a bit... Found an area which brings back all the feelings while playing the Valley of Defilement. Which means, anger, frustration, stubborness, very small victory, anger, rage, frustration etc. Now I even got the boss, but after dying 2-3 times, I need a rest.

I am at lvl 36 or so, but I lost ten thousands of souls by dying without getting to the corpse. I have spent about 36 hours with this character, who know how many times I have died...

Now I really should need to farm humanity, as I squandered almost everything and in two areas I have already seen notes which say that humanity should help in certain fights. I will do it as soon I kill that boss I mentioned earlier
Chaos Queen Queelag or something like that, a woman on a spider body, spits out nice hot lava and is not a nice person all together. I had even an easier time fighting the goat demon in the Undead Burg than this one.

Anyway, see that we all are getting forward, which is nice (I highly doubt you all would put so many spoiler tags if things would not change). I am restraining myself not to read your spoiler tagged comments and to read about certain areas, for example, I got several "merchant here" comments in the area I am already at and I am for hours in the vicinity, left and right and have not seen any.

I have the feeling that everything I have missed in Demon's Souls will be nothing compared to this game when I finish it this way (if I finish it ;) ).

Cheers...

I accidentally came across a merchant in Blight Town yesterday (or rather a Pyro trainer). Never seen her despite having spent most likely 10+ hours in that godforsaken dump. Maybe she doesn't spawn unless you killed the boss, but I don't know. Maybe I just didn't see her. (she blends in fairly well with the background and the place isn't exactly well-lit).

I feel ya' Sigfried... but... yes even that must be spoiler'd!

Me and Yemeth can't have you dropping that knowledge like so much candy around here. ;)

Anyway ruminating on the plot for a moment, I'm actually liking it quite a bit of late - I feel like there's ample depth and backstory here, and with enough effort, you can start decoding it and learning a decent amount about the world and characters. Granted, I'm a neurotic NPC-talker. Perhaps not as cohesive as Demon's Souls story... but easier to attain? I'm early in, but it's starting to come together I feel.

I am behind all of you, so technically if i don't talk about the strategy guide, i should not need to spoiler tag my posts !

Yemeth, people in the chatroom told me I should co-op for difficult demons. There's a guy who's mobbing stuff up in Dark Souls now. Only last fight to go and he's only level 30. At the moment, he's just doing PvP and Covenant quests.

Yeap ! Told you Dark Souls has a good share of back stories and covenant activities and NPC relationships.

I have a schedule to keep since people in the chatroom will likely finish up before BF3 and U3 drop. I doubt I can finish it by 25th October, so I guess this game will stick with me well into 2012 as I juggle my game. ^_^

Spent half my morning thinking about how to kill that
Capra Demon

If From Software wants a suggestion to improve their game, I recommend they let us choose our "favorite" Demon's head as a stool at the bonfire. We should form a good bond when you get summoned into a world and see a few men squatting on top of some monster skull or shrunken dragon head. ^_^

So after beating Demon Souls w/o assistance or stratedgy guide you're coming back for more with Dark Souls and are going to do the same?!? Quite inspiriing. Okay, I think I'm going to try a blind playthrough as well. No stratedgy guide or online hints. I've avoided all of the spoilers in this thread so far as well.

Sounds absolutely crazy if you ask me, but this could be quite a fun challenge. :p

Oh boy, something has to be wrong with both of you, and Yemeth. :p
Is something missing in ur life ? Why do you sought death in earnest ? :runaway:

I finally found a decent replacement for the
Drake Sword.
I made a
Fire Long Sword, and a Fire Basterd Sword.
I'm really not liking the upgrade paths available at this point.
The regular one, for now, caps out at around the same damage the Drake Sword does. And there doesn't seem to be one that takes advantage of the Dex stat.

I did some farming for souls by helping other players kill the
Gaping Dragon
boss. Who knew that thing would be vulnerable to
fire attacks.

Now that I have some more levels and better equipment I'll give
Blighttown
another shot.

Who sells the
lightning resin ?

What about the Black Knight Sword ? What happens if you upgrade it ?

I am falling behind because I can't play DS on weekends

Lightning resin? If it's that stuff that puts lightning damage on your weapon, then a vendor in the Depths sells that.

For the Capra Demon I take it? Dark souls has this annoying habit of putting the very things you need very long way from where you'll need them.

The Black Knight Sword probably counts as a special weapon, which have a separate upgrade path, and require their own upgrade titanite. It basically works the same way special weapons and colorless demon souls worked in Demon's Souls. I'm not sure if every blacksmith can make that upgrade though.

The Blackknight Sword requires Twinkling Titanite, just like most special weapons and armor. It's a major headache too, because that stuff is incredibly hard to come by and used for just about anything. Blacksmith isn't actually required at all. You can do the upgrades yourself as long as you bought the kit from the guy in Undead Parish. Demon Titanite is only for special weapons created from Boss souls and the odd demonic weapon here and there (like a Demonic Spear). It's no big deal though because there's one enemy late in the game has a 100% drop rate for 2 Demon Titanites each time, and he also respawns and is even close to a bonfire. He's a tough one though

It's a weekday ! I can play Dark Souls again. :p

Yeah well, I can't get to the Depth without passing Capra Demon. Only have 3 resins. Don't want to waste them.

I may try co-op or upgrade my weapon if I can't clear it this week. :devilish:

I used
a spear to kill the doggies, and then switched to the Drake Sword for the Capra Demon. And a Hollow Soldiers Shield, it probably has the best stability of all the shields available early on. It should keep him from guard breaking you.
