Cyan's *Must-Have* Skyrim Mod Recommendation Super-Gush Thread - daily updates

Bethesda confirms that Skyrim is going to be on the Nintendo Switch, which he holds in high regard!! Very interesting interview with Todd Howard, Bethesda's CEO.

http://www.glixel.com/interviews/sk...alks-switch-vr-and-elder-scrolls-wait-w451761

What do you think of the Switch, Nintendo's newly announced console that is portable but also hooks up to your TV?
I love it. I got to play it. I will tell you – well, maybe that's an N.D.A. thing. One of the best demos I've ever seen. Probably the best demo I've ever seen. At E3.

Was it a Nintendo game?
I mean the device itself. I think it's really smart what they're doing. We're definitely going to be supporting it. It's the first time we've done something on Nintendo. If you don't count the old NES stuff. Home Alone. Or Where's Waldo?

Can you really bring Skyrim with you on the go?
It's the same game on the TV and on the other screen.

And more tidbits...on mods and all.

Are there Skyrim mods that you wish were part of the main game?
There are really simple ones where you go, 'Duh, we should have done that.' There's one that adds fast travel markers when you own a house. That's like a 10-minute thing that we probably should have done. There's a really popular mod that makes the cities open, so you can just walk in. We didn't do that, originally, for technical reasons on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

There are also ones that we like that rebalance the game. On the surface, it seems like it makes it harder, but can make it a bit more interesting for people who have played it a lot.

Is there any part of Skyrim that you would fix?
I think if you look at our worlds and our environments, they're really rewarding. I think on the character side, how the NPCs react to you is still not quite where we want it to be.

There really isn't a part of the game where we can't say, "That could be better."

I wonder what the minimum game is you need before the rest of the world will make content for it (for free!) and turn it into something spectacular?

Is he not?

Mods that the guy of the video is using (I think Adorable Females, Vivid Weathers/Climates of Tamriel, Wet and Cold, and some others are notable absences, but it looks fine, and in fact I havent tried Surreal Lighting, Nordic Snow, Treeslod_23 -sounds very interesting-, Fallen Trees, Tundra Quagmire nor Manor Road nor Optimised Vanilla Textures)

1.Optimized Vanilla Textures
2.Skyrim Graphic Overhaul
3.Static Mesh Improvement Mod
4.Surreal Lighting
5.Nordic Snow
6.Project Hippie
7.Treeslod_23
8.Fallen Trees
9.Tundra Quagmire
10.Realistic Water Two
11.Manor Roads

Now in the second video, the author compares some weather mods. He recommends Vivid Weathers on consoles, and if you are on PC and using ENBs he says maybe Climates of Tamriel is best suited for that.

The pictures (had to split the post). All of them are compatible between them. Additionally, I have other mods, but they aren't related to visuals, some of them are just the Fenris Wolf follower and things like that, followers, sexy, little tweaks, new npcs and campaigns etc.

I got this pictures yesterday (hope you can see them, except one they are uploaded to onedrive):

Sofia is an awesome follower. Fully custom voiced who reacts to everything around her like comments from NPCs, as well as quests etc. She's a riot.

:D I can attest to that. It's quite surprising because she even comments about the things guards tell you, and sometimes in a very funny way.

She can discern the things other people say, which is nice, because it says good things about how the game was programmed. I thought it was a weakness in Skyrim, that the comments of other people went unnoticed most of the time -and they do, I think, when it comes to the built - in NPCs-.

There are entire mods devoted to improving the interaction between NPCs. Bethesda created a very open but rather bland world in respect to immersion.

Maybe it is a cultural thing. Perhaps it isn't, but people usually engage into a three-way (or more) conversation if the opportunity arises. I mean, in Skyrim some guards talk to you and other guards are right there too, nearby, but they don't interact in the conversation if only to reply to their workmate or attest to their statements. That's what surprised me about Sofia, and it also shows it could be easily implemented in the game if Bethesda wanted to.

I enjoy philosophy and I would love to have this follower, Aurlyn Dawnstone, in the console version. Probably the best follower out there?

Also Onean http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72385/?

And Recorder, amazing voice acting.http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/68683/?

I'd be so happy with those.

Some more excellent mods.

Dense grass (uses vanilla grass, and improves it, might cause minor drops, although maybe non on the console version, which are already limited to 30fps)

As an extra, two other mods that look very cool, although these two are PC Only.

Enhanced Lights and FX http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2424/?
Emfy Cleric (DX Mini Armour Collection) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4853/?

This is a good example about how a modded console version of Skyrim can look.
