Cyan's *Must-Have* Skyrim Mod Recommendation Super-Gush Thread - daily updates

Surprising, it's one of the most popular Skyrim mods. There are a bunch of core mods that are pretty much standard for PC users: the unofficial patch, SMIM, Script Extender, SkyUI, XCE and more. But if you've been playing only on console then these things will be a nice surprise

Generally I'm not a fan of mods that fundamentally change Skyrim but The Paarthurnax Dilemma is one of the few I do use because the base game feels weird not giving you, the Dragon Born, another option.
Watching this 24 seconds video maybe will make you think about giving certain mods a chance. Vanilla experience is something I lived for more than 600 hours, in one of my favourite games ever. It's meant for every PC, however the new consoles are more capable than the average PC then, and I am not sure I could go back if I played the game with these mods on.

So the mesh mods wont be on ps4 right? Since they are custom.meshes? What about the enhanced cities etc?

I performed a search before I wrote about those mods and I'd swear I had seen the title of a youtube video mentioning Project Hippie on the Ps4, but I am not sure, I haven't seen it.

I'm more than happy with graphics mods, it's mods that fundamentally change the game I generally avoid. E.g. unlimited carry capacity, ûber armour sets and weaons etc. The things that erode the core game.

You spent over 600 hours in unmodded Skyrim??
Haha it's not that bad. I put in 100+ hours in PS3 Skyrim. And 200+ hours into PS3 Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Oh and about 200+ into PS3 Oblivion. I loved Oblivion, it was the first RPG that ever grabbed me.

And i have started Skyrim multiple times on the ps3 and pc and always got lost just exploring and ending up someplace highly overlevelled for me and getting stuck there...lol.

Fallout 4 is the only bethesda rpg that i actually got into. In fact bought Far Harbour in the halloween sale and am exploring again in there :D

Digital Foundry talked about the fact that the game runs just perfectly on consoles, although they would love to see it running at 60 fps.

Could it be that Bethesda preferred to be conservative with the framerate because they wanted full mod support? :smile2:JK (whose equivalent on consoles is Project Hippie), makes the game more incredible overall, but it's also a resource hog, while Project Hippie, according to the youtuber's video, doesn't affect performance on the Xbox One.

I wonder how a gorgeous place like Bloated Man's Grotto is going to look with those mods on. :smile2::smile2:

More mods, this one is called Ashara Erin and Sienna (also a mod called Dohvabit is featured, it adds a follower which is a rabbit and you can put helmets on it), the first Xbox One sexy mod. You an undress some girl called Erin, whose name is in the name of the mod -along with other two-, by using the gauntlet trick, dressing her with a gauntlet. You don't need that mod to get the same effect though, if you use the Nocturnal Robes mod and use the gauntlet trick, it has the same effect. I am buying this game.

Exactly today it's been 5 years after Skyrim was released. What memories does it bring to you? The famous trailer..

In a previous post I mentioned again and again one of the most impressive mods, STATIC MESH IMPROVEMENT MOD (SMIM), but called it Project Hippie (a very fine mod but it doesn't affect the technology of the game as much) for whatever reason, so I edited that post and properly added SMIM, which works like JK, it adds geometry to the game.

An article on the best console mods (the Unofficial Skyrim Patch is also available for consoles). There are quite a few listed in the article:

I have the game and started from scratch playing it directly with mods, Skyrim continues to have some breathtaking moments after 5 years once again. The moment Alduin appears and the sky changes...is..quite indescribable good when mods are applied.

Backwards flying dragons. Single digit framerates. A named npc cloning himself every time I return to Whiterun. Arrows and knees. That kinda stuff.
haha, only suffered a backwards flying dragon or two, and some mamuts falling from the sky.

PS3 version?

It's definitely still in the PC version of SE.
I think so, from some hours I've played Skyrim SE now that's more or less the same.

What is really a game changer is the mods. I have like 3GB worth of space in mods and I don't want to ever come back to vanilla Skyrim. This is one of my favourites, the Vivid Weathers mod.

Nice music.

And a comparison of weather mods: Vanilla, Climates of Tamriel (which is also present in the X1 version) and Vivid Weathers. This video clearly shows how different they can be.

one of the mods that impresses me the most is True Storms. It doesn't only enhances the weather, but also the sound of the elements and the atmosphere.

I have it but I also love Vivid Weathers and they aren't compatible. This guy has a mod for the PC that makes both compatible and the results are really good. I contacted him about the possibility of making a console version of his mod.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/2517/? It's called VividWeathersSE TruesStormsSE Patch

But, you have to see True Storms in motion. In nebulous days it's like Skyrim meets Silent Hill. If you add Wet and Cold to it...soooo good.

I prefer Cot myself. Vivid changes a lot more of the game as we ll which makes it less compatible with certain types of mods. Running RLO for interiors and dungeons though. Waiting for a true storm patch for COT.

I downloaded Climates of Tamriel as well, gotta try it --Vivid Weathers got updated, the game automatically tells you when a mod was updated in order to download it again if you want.

Any weather mod you install, if you add Wet and Cold to it it's like a perfect combo, because your feet will get humid and your clothes get dirty with mud. Plus, your steps sound like in real life when the ground is drenched.

on a different note, I am surprised at how different is the new Skyrim SE on consoles compared to the original. Well, I am doubly surprised because when Skyrim came out I saved it to a 8GB pendrive I had, which I used only for Skyrim. The game just used 3,6GB of space in the X360 version, iirc. That surprised me for such a huge world at the time, I expected several DVDs.

Now it sits at a whopping 24GB, almost 7 times the size. That's without counting the mods. Talking of which, I have just 600GB free of my 5GB quota of mods on the Xbox One. I will share the mods I am using for now some of these days.

On a different note, this is a game I am going to remember for years and years. The author of this video sums up many of my thoughts about the game (gorgeousness after the 3:30 mark btw):
