Current Generation Games Analysis Technical Discussion [2022] [XBSX|S, PS5, PC]

God of War PC release is finally here after 4 years as a PlayStation exclusive. With our in-depth PC Performance review, we are going to smash through all the settings, boosts and more across 2 PC specifications along with comparisons to the PS5 Backwards Compatibility version. How much better is it over the PRO version, what do you need to run it, and have the gods graced us with a prize PC port? All that and much more within.

NXGamer review...

13:50 rtx2070oc ps4 settings in 1512p can drop to 42fps where ps5 in same scane 60 on 4k cb, nice
Not sure how his 2070 (pseudo 2070s) results here are so much lower than what I measure on a real 2070 Super at 1512p original settings.

The 2070 Super I have is like 2x the framerate in the moment? I use FCAT though for my PC testing...

edit: wrong label

If he didn't change his system, he has a Zen+ CPU, which might already explain his framerate issues.

Edit:
Ah, just seen it is a 6-core Zen2 cpu (3600)

Edit again:
Oh, his RTX System is still a Zen+ (2700x) system ....

its wirtten 2070oc not super to be fair and probably cpu difference ? tough would rather expect your results as 4k cb is for sure more demanding than 1512p and also its only compatible mode

Wait so, he's comparing it on PC to PS5 by using a significantly worse CPU than what's in the PS5?

I mean, I guess that's fine as long as he discloses that fact and doesn't directly compare the performance between the PC and PS5 versions to make any performance claims. CPU's are still easy to get while GPUs are the hard ones to get. :p

SB

the RTX 2070, yes. But I guess the game runs against the DX11 limitation of Draw calls on just one core. I wonder why they didn't add a Vulcan port, as this should be much easier to implement when coming from the PS4 code. Ok DX11 is still easier to port (because more or less DX11 handles memory stuff etc) but still, it would make sense to go from PS4 code to vulkan (or DX12).

significaly worse ? 2700x 3.7ghz (up to 4.3ghz) is probably quite similar with perf to ps5 cpu, btw why comparing to significaly faster cpu (10900k) is ok for you ? ;d

I think this is more of a CPU difference, rather than GPU differences. Your CPU cores alone are almost hitting 5GHz. That combination of hardware should outperform any matched settings on PS5/XBSX.

It wont perform this bad on a 3600
Zen2 can be significantly faster than Zen+. Zen+ is barely faster than OG Ryzen. HUB did some great tests for this if you are interested ->
True but you are comparing your result from Core i9 10900K with RTX 2070 Super to NXGamer Ryzen 2700X with 2070 (overclocked). You are not going to get the same results. A Core i9 10900K is almost twice the performance of Ryzen 7 2700X in games.

A desktop ryzen 7 2700X clocked at 3.8ghz will perform close to mobile ryzen 7 4800H give or take 2 to 4 percentage points in favor of 4700H but the consoles are clocked lower.

+ using vsync/60fps cap as on console
