*Confirmed* Original Crysis Bound for *PS360

Um... IME, the PSN downloads are larger than the 360 equivalent. Not sure what you're on about. Also... not compressed? Baseless nonsense.

You do realise that installations require more hard drive space for temporary files, usually an unspecified quantity. From what I've heard, if you're low on space on PS3, you aren't even warned during installations and the system locks up. Not so good if you're updating the PS3...

But that's off-topic.

But PSN downloads have to be installed (uncompressed) after downloading and end up bigger on your HDD than the download size, whereas 360 games are the exact same size as the download and there's no discernable install/unpacking.

Can I install Games on Demand (ie Crysis) to a USB? And is performance running downloadable titles from USB quicker than from HDD?

This shot makes me wish they'd release a PC version with the same optimisations as the console version:

I'm current stuck at some bastardisation of Medium+High settings in Crysis. The pop-in is terrible and the frame rate in some areas is bad enough to stop me from enjoying it completely. Something like this would be godsend.

If Crysis on the 360 ends up being better than the PC version I might have to consider Seppuku.

Can you swap out a 360 HDD without buying one of their rip off retail boxes? I mean can you buy a 500GB notebook drive and drop it in the chassis your 20GB is in? I'd do that in a blink if it were me. ;) My Xbox 1 has 250GB. :D

You can but highest firmware released is 250 gig had a old laptop hdd 250 gig and it was the right one so i could just flash it and use it.
edit; There is a firmware for a 10000rpm hdd 250 gig if im not mistaken

Im sad that crysis made it to consoles. I really liked the original, the sequel however was a bit disappointing as it was to linear, and you got the feeling that it was made this way to be playable on consoles.

Looking at these screens, omg, this should not be legal! The game looks awesome on pc, but the console screens look sobad, it's not crysis anymore

Sarcasm right?

I just don't understand the excitement over the game getting a console version. It just wasn't very good.
You're in the minority then. But I do have to ask this: Did you actually play it? In my experience, most of the people who say it wasn't very good never actually played it.

Have to say i thought the same manipulated by the media telling me it was all graphics and no gameplay.

The game isn't for everyone but what game is. I enjoyed all three of them, but the first the most because, well, it was the first and felt the most exciting because of that. The totally stunning visuals for the time helped. It felt like a massively improved Far Cry.

I also tend to go for any game with an open-ish setting.

I played it and didn't care for it. I'll buy it again on console just to check out the graphics differences and such, probably play through again for kicks.

I spend a lot of time in Crytek related threads, mostly for their technical wizardry but as far as their actual games gameplay I find them flawed. I would rate them 6's or 7's. They seem to be that typical East European developer with problems polishing their games.

I had horrible bugs on PC C1 though, so maybe just actually being able to play the thing this time on console will help. I'm also "that guy" who usually prefers playing on console to PC.

No, that is just the same as the game on a PC at low settings (it is the start of the assault level).

I was making the voxels!? comment along with a crappy screenshot in the hope of later being able to make some kind of ulimited detail joke. However, the opportunity did not arise and I know look stupid.

Just like my comment about Final Fantasy XIII being better on 3 disks. :(

One of the trailers advertises a lighting overhaul. That could be a tangible improvement.

I actually think the 360 version looked pretty good (helicopter screen notwithstanding) for a "first gen engine" budget port. If I didn't already have the Maximum Edition I'd consider giving this a shot.

If it has a good co-op mode I still might.

Crytek is in Germany, that's Western Europe.
Ironically, the Warhead expansion is supposed to be better than the main game, and that was made in Eastern Europe, though.

Part of the reason I'm interested in seeing Crysis 1 on console, is to see how well it holds up on such ancient hardware. I haven't played C1 either, so I'll definitely pick it up.

I've watched the footage in HD multiple times on gametrailers and I can spot loads of places were everything has been cut down.

It's obvious what they'll do, Make the TOD look better and cover everything up with DOF and motion blur giving it the false impression that it looks better then it does on PC.

I've noticed the following from the gametrailers footage -

- No edge AA.
- Reduced object detail.
- No POM.
- Props, grass and bushes have been reduced and in some places have gone completely.
- Particles lack the fullness they have on PC.
- Shadows are like half the resolution, Have a much lower update rate and in most places don't move making me think they're just static or that only certain objects cast dynamic shadows or only objects within a set radius to the player cast shadows.
- Water doesn't look as nice
- SSAO looks worse and in some places actually looks like it's been removed completely.

Appears to run better than it did on my Athlon 64 X2 though.

If that's representative of the final product then it's not bad for a first gen, mulitplatform port of a resource hungry PC game.
