Chip Comparison Chart

I am farily sure that R350 does not contain the same number of transistors that R300 does.

Every review I've read for both the 9700 (R300) and the 9800 (R350) state that both chips contain 107-110 million transistors. Mostly from what I gathered they tweaked some transistor layouts to minimize signal delays so they could achieve higher stable clock rates. They did add a few features such as better early z checking, however these were mostly small improvements over r300 features. F-Buffer is the largest addition from r300, but I'm curious as to how transistor-intensive such a feature really is...

I actually asked a reliable source about the R350 transistor count and was told that F-buffer took on-die space, the chip's timings and memory controllers were optimized (relative to R300), but the actual transistor count he was unsure of.

Maybe we can get one of our own forum members to give us a transistor count confirmation for both R300 and R350. I've seen 107-110 million for R300.
