    I thought it was common knowledge that version likes to speculate. A lot.

    Well yeah but he also has some genuine technical knowledge so I thought he knew what he was talking about.

    One can have lots of technical knowledge but still know nothing about what Sony will do with PS3. Most of us are in that situation in fact. :twisted:
    Dave has lots of technical knowledge (Understatement of the year) but i'm not sure he knows anything about 4.8GHs XDR or Cell being on PS3 or whatever nonsense gets posted on these boards.

    Even in light of their licensing agreement with Transmeta, I have a very hard time believing that we'll see a fully torqued Cell in a PS3. It's just a hunch, but they will have a damn hard time keeping the thermals in check @ 4.8 GHz.

    Any Cell design cloaked within a PS3 will have the limitation of an ubersleek case that might look pretty, but will have to be very smartly engineered to control runaway temps at that kind of speed.

    I think heat-pipe technology might be a given for the PS3 and the Xenon.

    PS1 CPU -> 33 Mhz
    PS2 CPU -> 300 Mhz
    PS3 CPU -> ....3200 Mhz!! (I love to speculate :))
