Can you still buy old Gamecubes, new? (Re: Progressive Scan)

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I have a question...

I'm finally going to buy a GC so that I can play all the RE games, especially RE4.

But I want progressive scan. (No prog scan no sale)

If I buy a brand new NTSC GC, I guess I can't get prog scan.

If I buy a brand new PAL GC, will this have the prog scan socket?

I can buy 2nd hand PAL GC if the new PAL console has lost the socket.

The GC is amazingly cheap, but I want prog scan.

I think PAL GC games don't have the option for Pro-scan, never had. So if you buy a PAL GC and PAL games, u won't be able to, unless there are hacks to make it work, which i have not heard of. Or chip it i guess to make it work with NTSC games.

If you want 480p, then you need a GC with the "Digital AV" port (a shelf warmer or used from ebay), NTSC software and a component cable. In case of a PAL GC you also need a copy of Freeloader, how to boot a PAL GC into progressive scan read this.

Might be easier to import an NTSC GC than a Panasonic whatever-its-called thing.

You and me both, I'm still debating over whether I'll import one or just wait until it gets released locally.
