Call of Duty: Ghost (Consoles)

Not only shooters though.

Yesterday I thought that Call of Duty Ghosts looked fine for a next gen game. I thought we should expect that.

I agree with Arwin, kots... Today my perception changed, completely. Everything, or almost everything, looked better. Some of the things I've seen today looked out of this world to me. Amazing stuff.

Really? :???:

Have you had the pleasure of playing Crysis 3 on max detail settings with full AAA turned on?

Please be mindful of not turning this into a versus thread by calling out explicit comparisons.

Battlefield's too complicated, the learning curve is too steep, the games take too long, and it has no local multiplayer. It just doesn't fit the role COD does right now. COD's probably looking the most vulnerable it ever has, but the total failure of any other game to unseat it this gen shows just how hard it is to scratch as many itches as effectively as COD does.

What can dethrone COD is not BF4, it is n't the same audience, but TitanFall ! That has the same audience, even more smoother traversal and equally fast gameplay with more exciting variations, thanx to the mechs, and similar adrenaline fueling scoring system. Titanfall can and most probably, if marketed well, will dethrone COD.

As much as I love BF3, BF is too confused in itself to do it.

No we haven't , cos this is a console forum and we play Crysis 3 on consoles. So, a lot we saw this E3 did look very fantastic.

(I do play on PC too, as u might have seen on the pc forum, but I don't see the point bringing it here)

cod ghost proudly give explanation of their tech, the HDR, the parallax, etc.

but it looks really bad.

titanfall that use source engine looks much better.

Can't say I'm too excited for this one after seeing other games that were revealed.

Yeah, me too. Looks a bit dusty and old school. Not only the tec in comparison to the mindblowing stuff we saw, but also the gameplay sequences...and I don't want my dog to die :(

Isn't Titanfall an Xbox exclusive? Might be a Halo killer, though. Hopefully it's not as broken as MW2 was; I don't think a hideously unbalanced, easily hacked shooter will fly without being the sequel to something already wildly popular.

Not directly related to Ghosts, but I rather like the Black Ops 2 DLC maps. Previous Treyarch DLC maps tended to be excessively large or just too gimmicky. Not only are these not bad, but I am so far liking them better than many of the default maps.

It's pretty obvious at this point that Infinity Ward lost too many key personnel when half the studio split and went to EA. It's not just the engine, their new team clearly doesn't have the eye for color and light balance that the artists for MW1 & 2 did.

Is it just me remembering wrong or this COD MP is much more faster in pace than previous titles ! Has anyone else noticed that?

I was gonna pre order BF4 and a friend suggested he pre orders COD and we both share each others games, so suddenly I am getting COD Ghosts :p ! DO we have any footage of current gen gameplay? and does this also have split screen co op modes like MW2&3?

Some gameplay from the new game mode 'Cranked' where if u don't get a kill within 30 secs of the previous kill, u explode  !

Frankly, that gameplay is too freakinf fast !!! How do pople even see at that speed, let alone react and kill !
And looks like it takes almost 0 bullets to kill !

Blitz mode:

you know what they say , if a game is moving to fast for ya, your to old !

But yea I agree. They are just trying to find a new mode to get people to buy it for

You can say that ! There were times when I ruled Q3, but yes, I know I am not that fast all the time now, but sometimes I can still do it for a match or two, then I get tired of it :p ! Mostly its because that super fast gameplay doesn't hold me anymore, need more variety in gameplay, otherwise I would still be playing Q3 and UT :p .
But this does seem much much faster than MW3.

The reason COD is still relevant in the house is because the splitscreen modes of COD help a lot when my nephew is around. split screen is still in GHosts, right?

I used to love Team Arena, vertical gunplay was the best and rocket jumps!! I also used to be pretty kick ass at Unreal Tournament back in the day!

Yeah, UT was our LAN favourite where we studied CG animation. Used to have rounds every day after class. Was unbeaten  !

BTW, got Black Ops today to play some Zombies, had never tried before, and ended up trying out the MP. Man, is it me or the MP feels much better than MW3 MP to me ! Gotta play more and see, but , in the first few rounds I liked what I played much more than my entire time with MW3 MP. This feels clunky and sounds feel "low quality", but the game seems better i some way.

How is BO2 compared to this?

The reason is probably because the weapons tend to have a higher TTK and it's harder to get streaks than in the IW games. This slows down the game just a bit and puts the focus back more on gunplay & tactics. It's not just about who sees whom first.

BlOps2 is overall a significant improvement. Better graphics, better audio, better balance (Treyarch has done a lot of data analysis to tune the weapons & and attachments), and better netcode. I don't much care for the maps or aesthetics, though.

Yeah, you are perfectly right about that. It is a tad bit slower in pace than MW3 and that makes it different and somehow more fun to me because it puts th e emphasis back on aiming and gunning. It sounds abstract, but this plays more like a "shooter" than the MW2,3. I am unable to grasp the exact differences.

Also, finished the BO campaign yesterday and I have to say this is the first COD campaign that I finished so quickly and I did it solely because of the story ! They kept me interested enough to make me continue playing. The individual missions were good and bad sometimes, and overall it all still feels very kiddish, but it was a good tale and told well for a COD. Treyarch seem to have taken the COD train by the engines and stopped being an underdog !Now I am really interested in buying BO2 used and give it campaign a go.

IW is anyway a 'ghost' company now, with none of its original soul in there. I have Ghosts coming in a few weeks, but i am getting a gut feeling that I will like BO2 MP more, if it retains the qualities of BO MP. Ghosts MP looks like it is even faster than MW3 and again has that super emphasis on killstreaks.

The difference is mainly in the recoil. Many MW3 weapons have overall more predictable, less wandering recoil than their BlOps counterparts. Add the Kick proficiency to guns, and the difference is even more pronounced.

I quite enjoyed the BO campaign as well. I usually find these kinds of games very tasteless due to the fun and glorifying spin they put on real world atrocities, but BO was so ridiculous it felt more like a very violent James Bond movie to me.
