Call of Duty: Ghost (Consoles)

Frankly, after all the hoopla , the only game that actually feels next-gen in visuals is definitely KZ SF. Even though it also lacks the POM and Non-screenspaceAO , which I had ssumed would be standard next gen, still that is the only footage, which when watched at 1080p, makes me want a new hardware. Everything else, just looks like the same on higher res , doesn't have the Wow factor at all.
Yeah agreed. The sooner cross gen title dies the better, not even BF4 looks that next gen to me either.

just watched the dog and fish gameplay video.

It seems the amount of color got drastic downgrade from Black ops 2.

its now brown/brown and blue/blue.

Remote controlled Dog who can kill ppl in 3 secs and teleport back to owners ! Does the Dog have kinect implanted that he can be voice controlled via radio chat ?

Most immersive cod evah ! Loving it !

And for all the mocap, the dog does move and stand wierdly.

its not just the dog that stand and move weird. The human also looks weird.

btw if it does support kinect, i hope the command are not too limited. So i can tell it to shake hand, play dead, etc. Sounds fun :p

Thanks for the link, interesting. Hm, can you maybe explain this a bit?
I think he's saying they're still doing HDR in gamma space instead of linear space, but you might be surprised...Treyarch does their lighting in linear space, but it still doesn't look very realistic for a variety of other reasons.

I doubt screen-space effects will go away because there's going to be so much else to do with the additional processing power than gain a marginal bit of accuracy in how an effect is done.

Looks a lot better to me. Gameplay looked kind of boring. Crazy scripted sequences as always. Just seemed like more of the same.

Man, I hope the Dog part was a tutorial and you have some more freedom. And that church - sheesh, could it be any more obviously setup?

So, it's apparently not possible or not practical to use Catmull-Clark subdivision and displacement together. I'm guessing they do the runtime subdivision on the CPU and it's processed as a highres model throughout the rest of the vertex shader pipeline. They can then adjust the iterations as the object moves closer to or further away from the player.

Didn't the Jak engine do something similar? I remember cliffs and outcroppings gaining geometric detail as you moved closer via some sort of continuous transformation. It was really clever at the time.

With Battlefield 4 apparently going for 60fps this gen, and from what I've seen so far, looking about 3x as impressive, I'm pretty interested in seeing if CoD will maintain it's domination this gen.

Comparing this game to some of the other shooters that have been revealed, it would be a tough sell for me to buy this one.

It was PC footage being used for BF4....

And if it's 60fps on One then it's not running at 1080p...

There's no way a GPU as fast as what's inside the One is pushing BF4 graphics at 1080/60fps...

I don't care how efficient the API is...... It's not happening...

Battlefield's too complicated, the learning curve is too steep, the games take too long, and it has no local multiplayer. It just doesn't fit the role COD does right now. COD's probably looking the most vulnerable it ever has, but the total failure of any other game to unseat it this gen shows just how hard it is to scratch as many itches as effectively as COD does.

Not only shooters though.

Yesterday I thought that Call of Duty Ghosts looked fine for a next gen game. I thought we should expect that.

I agree with Arwin, kots... Today my perception changed, completely. Everything, or almost everything, looked better. Some of the things I've seen today looked out of this world to me. Amazing stuff.
