But Pegasus was about to go in for a long refit, with most of the crew on extended leave. Pegasus "lost seven hundred crew" in the first attack. Even if they have the fighters, they don't have the crew, and they've got no civilian fleet to try and pull new pilots from.

Most of the crew was getting ready to take leave, so most were probably still aboard. And they may have picked up survivors, point in case of the Pegasus's deck chief who was an aeronautical engineer who got drafted to be the Pegasus deck chief. So they may have been able to train more pilots during the course of the series since I figure the Pegasus has a Flight simulator which the Galactica lacked in season one when Starbuck had to train new pilots to replace the ones they lost in the accident.

Pegasus is probably undermanned but the 700 crew that was lost would probably be a majority of them were regular crew and in the last episode you could see the flight briefing room was pretty full. And since the ship was undergoing retrofit, she might have taken on more crew from the dock workers and anyone else from the spacedock.

about that ship... i think Baron is right, from earlier fights we know Galactica cant fight against single Base Star, let alone 2 of them....

Actually, Galactica has stood her ground with two Basestars pounding away and a third about to join in - the whole mini-series pitched battle outside the Ragnar anchorage had that. Problem is that while the Galactica probably could take out a basestar, maybe even two, she would suffer serious damage in the process. And there is no shipyard available to retire to and repair, so it simply isn't worth the risk.

As yet, we really haven't seen a fully armed Battlestar cut loose in an all out offensive attack. We might get to see that in Episode 11 with the raid on the Cylon fleet.

The retro fit is what I immediately thought of when it came to the Pegasus' out from being susceptible to Cylon hacking.

A few things of note about the Pegasus and it's crew. The Pegasus itself seems fatter/chunkier than the Galactica. It's obviously MUCH newer -- pay attention to the any internal footage of it, very shiny. The chief engineer is more than a mechanic like Chief Tierel, he's an avionics engineer, an accomplished one seeing as he designed engines. He also said he was drafted, so he likely was working on the retro fit. The Pegasus' crew has been away from society too long. They've become barbarians, thinking the military/war greater than all, where the military is actually meant to be servile to the population it has sworn to protect. Realise how there was an entire lack of interest of them trying to find relatives, I doubt that was an oversight by the writers rather it was done purposefully.

Cain has gone psycho, it's obvious she's just running around on a suicide mission to get back at any Cylons she can get her hands on. Realise how she doesn't give a damn about the survivors, her entire focus has been the hit on the Cylon fleet following Galactica and company. Adama might actually find an entirely peaceful solution -- remember he was in a similar mind set when Rosalyn changed his mind. Heck as the vipers are about to engage, the President with the colonial fleet might wall off the two sides and talk them down. That'd be REALLY unexpected, the entire, 'fight, fight, ra, ra' solution seems overly childish -- which isn't really Adama, and deep down, likely not Cain.

Thanks! That helped a little bit towards alleviating the lackluster (cheap but devoid of extras) state of the Region 2 set.

I skipped through the thread in ph33r of teh spoilers, but well i'm on ep 5 or 6 of the first season and well i kinda like it! Very surprised since i usually HATE space operas like Star Wars, but man this show has some great acting and some really good ideas, story-wise!

Funny enough, one episode is usually "enough" for me. Like, all other shows i can watch a whole season in a weekend, but i really couldn't see myself going through the first season of BSG in one weekend. One episode a day is more than enough.

They are quite dense and full of ideas and nuances. If you rush through them, they end up being a blur and you've missed the subtlties. I like to savour tv, movies and books, have a think about what they mean. It drives my wife nuts who can sit through six hours of movies straight or read a couple of books a day.

depends on the book or movie ;)
but going through BSG season all at once is a sin.....

Obviously it depends on the content. The average Arnie movie doesn't need much thinking - just turn off your brain and enjoy the explosions. More complex, longer term projects like serials or deep books deserve a bit more thought, IMO. I find I get more enjoyment out of them that way.

I suppose it's like the difference between savouring a fine meal, or bolting it down your throat and hardly tasting it.

offcourse.... there are simply some books i can read again and again and still find something new even though i know what will happen. i got hooked on SF as kid and reading some books back then and then years later gives you totally different perspective...

and last thing.... i have yet to see movie that will be as good as original book after i read the book first....;) (even LOTR misses some really important stuff)
