It's a BS move, end of story.

The KZ vid was BS, few would deny that.

The issue at hand here, however, is a different one.

It seems like we cannot discuss the feasibility of the quality of graphics presented in the KZ video without a group of people ALWAYS mistaking it for a discussion of the validity of the video or whether it was real or not, and if you don't mind me saying so, go on "auto-offense" mode. That's a completely seperate issue to the one at hand here, and a closed one too as you point out.

Looking back at the original post, it's simply sharing that a guy who works in CG and game cinematics thinks that that kind of quality will be doable. It's one more opinion in the discussion of feasibility, and nothing to do with the "realness" of the video itself.

As for the KZ trailer, when a company is sleazy with a capital S, they should be called out for it, instead everyone goes in auto-defense mode. It's a BS move, end of story.

So you don't really care if the game looks the same or not right? Because to you E3 2005 is the only thing that matters in life. Am I right?

As opposed to a KillZone video being the only thing that matters in life? What kind of question is that?

It's a valid question, that's what it is. Some people here (like Titianio is stating) don't want to talk about the possiblity of the game looking the same as it did in the video. Nobody wants to talk about why the Killzone devs till this day feel like they have a product that looks like the video. Tommy and Axisder both said they have seen games look comparable to the KZ video.

Yet my point is nobody really wants to talk about that issue.

I really don't think that we care about what the developers feel around here, this isn't Oprah after all. And what would there be to talk about? They 'feel' they can do it, so what should we do, should we act supportive and cheer them on or write fan-fictions or something?

And honestly, what would you expect from them? They really did their best not to answer wether the video was CGI or not and now they try to cling on to the last shred of hope that's left with their claims that they have something that looks just like it, but they won't show it to anyone. And what can they say, if they have something that really won't live up to the trailer, don't you think that would reflect badly on the PS3 and they would be gagged by Sony?

And come on, it's Guerilla after all, they promised you the world and gave you two crummy games with rubbish technology. Why do you have such high hopes for them? They're the Sony equivalent of Artoon, with the exception that people stopped beliving in anything that Artoon said after the release of Blinx.

Well I don't think it's ever been an issue as to whether we would one-day get graphics like killzone. While we'll never get that sort of perfectly scripted cinematic experience that a movie like Killzone can portray, nobody has really ever argued the GFX themselves are not achievable at some point in the future.

It's always been viewed as 'achievable one day' sort of thing, but something that would be expected much later on in the lifecycles of these consoles, in 2008 or 2009, but certainly not at launch, or anywhere in the next couple of years.

So Killzone level graphics are possible roughly, i think everyone would agree on that, but probably not in Killzone 2.

You are 1000% WRONG. Plenty of people said that it was impossible on the PS3. Even CGI devs on this board said it was impossible.

If someone lies to you, do you simply forgive them if the lie eventually turns out to be true? Does that make it ok for them to lie to you in the first place? In my books...not really.

Like Ben said, it wouldn't have been so hard for Sony to honestly say "this is concept footage we hope to achieve" it's not like that would have been the end of the world. Why the lies?

While specific parts of the trailer might not be possible (i.e. smoke effects) obviously there will come a day when we get GFX that are roughly equivalent to what we saw in the trailer. it just won't be for a few years, and that's what everyone has been saying.

No it's not okay at all. I would hate it, but if that person came through in the end then I would feel better and forget about it after a while.

So basically what I'm saying is if KZ looks like what they showed, yes I will be forgiven but not forgotten.
