if you want fast then just get a damned Elise, duh!

If only it were that easy. They are "sold out" for a long time as they are only bringing in 2.5K a year.

There are about 3 at the building I work at. I don't even wanna guess how much these guys paid for em. 2 of them are treated like dirt (ie no maintenance, no detailing care), but 1 of em, a yellow one, lovely :D

mize fyi... the altima feels a lot better and is WAY larger than an acura TL...
There's a 6'8" that works with me who bought the Altima because he said it has the largest interior space of all the cars out there.

for its class... yes...

when it came out, it topped the maxima for interior space...

I have the previous year model of the altima, my sister-in-law has the 2003 maxima GLE... I have a much larger cabin and it is obvious but thats not to say the maxima is a slouch...

since it is the flag-ship, it just has a little better build quality on the interior...

to go with the height's :) there is a guy who works with me, he's about 5' 2" and he drives an M-45 infiniti

I just saw one for the first time yesterday. It's a pretty slick little car. A little to small for me though.

I googled around to find out what cars you are talking about.

putain, what a horrible car
It's massive, but it could have look good (fine optics). This gigantic sewer grid is really scary :?

I also read insane numbers such as 250bhp, 298bhp etc.
I thought a company would want a fuel efficient car rather than a sports car :).

that picture looks to be the lower end version...

the hemi version has a better stance and more aggressive posture because of the gigantic wheels... it also shares tech with daimler in that if the car is purring along and not all 8 cylinders are needed, a coupla them shut down to conserve fuel efficiency...

IIRC currently it is built off the toyota MR-2 spyder platform... if you have ever sat in the mr-2 spyder or driven it, you will know what the elise feels so small...

I had a 93 Altima SE that was just the freaking bee's nuts, I loved that car! :)

When I was at the Nissan dealer I was trying to figure out the Maxima/Altima deal. It used to be (I thought) that the Maxima was their high-end car and the Altima was their mid-range car.

Not anymore.

One big thing that struck me at the dealership was that damned near every single Nissan there (except for the Sentry) was a 30k car. Mini-van, Pathfinder, Xterra, 350Z, Altima, and Maximas. $27-32k was just the bloody numbers I was seeing on EVERYTHING!

I think the Altimas look a lot better than the Maximas this year, and the Altima SE-R was real sweet.

I still love the Z though and am glad we got it. Only about 457.2 miles to go before she's broke in and we can see what she can do to! :)

If you want a sedan with some power and a usable backseat - how much does the Vovlo S80 T6 cost in USA?

I know this was ages ago, but still:

They [Volvos] are still much better than a regular Ford - those poor swedish engineers are doing as much as they can for the crappy Mondeo platform they're forced to work with.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no Volvo based on Mondeo. (Not that that would necessarily be a bad thing, I thought the Mondeo platform was considered good.)

Current S/V40 are Mondeos, as well as Mazda6.

EDIT:
I think 60's as well, but I ain't sure.

EDIT2:
Just comes to mind that V's are now numbered 50 and 70 instead of 40 and 60, but it still applies.

I believe you are wrong.
The current S40/V50 cars are based on the same platform as the Ford Focus C-Max, the new Focus and the Mazda3. The Mazda6 has its own platform.
Unfortunately, I don't have the time right now to look for links supporting my position.

Again, I beg to disagree.
The S60, V70, S80, XC70 and XC90 all share the same platform, developed under the ownership of Ford but by Volvo. I am positive that it has nothing to do with the Mondeo. There is, however, and IIRC, a Ford coming in the US based on the Volvo V70 platform.

Nope, I meant the upcoming ones, except for the new S40 which already is built on Ford, but Focus as you rightly said, not Mondeo.

How about the Infinity M?

One thing I haven't seen mentioned is the Infinity M class. It's a bit more than the G, but I think you'll find all the features you're looking for, and it has quite a bit more space.

My local paper did a review recently, and they loved it. Here are some quotes:
link (needs registering I think)

The entry-level G35 is, in my view, the best sports sedan yet out of Japan, and the market seems to agree. That car has been largely responsible for the fact that at least in Canada, Infiniti is running neck-and-neck with Lexus in sales, and ahead of such legendary marques as Audi, Jaguar, Lincoln and even, surprisingly, Cadillac.

The next entry in Infiniti's product offensive arrives in mid-February. The mid-size M35/45 is aimed directly at the European hearts of the BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and Jaguar S-Type, as well as country-mates Acura RL and Lexus GS, plus Cadillac's CTS.

While the M is actually some 109 mm shorter overall than the outgoing M, the wheelbase is 102 mm longer, resulting not only in an athletic wheels-to-the-corners look, but also significantly improved cabin space, especially in the rear seat.

Infiniti claims the largest interior volume in its competitive set, although I'm not sure the visual impact of the car truly advertises this fact.

One place where the M does have the BMW soundly thrashed is the interior. Whether you choose the matte-finished rosewood trim, or the brushed aluminum trim, the Infiniti is a vastly more attractive, better finished environment, made from much higher quality materials.

The M also offers such advanced interior technology as Bluetooth-capable cellphone connectivity, a TV-screen rear-view camera for safer reversing, DVD-based navigation with Nissan's unique and really cool bird's-view option, keyless entry with push-button ignition, and Bose sound systems, topped by a truly sensational 308-watt, 14-speaker, digital 5.1 Studio Surround system, with DVD audio and video front and rear (the front screen being disabled while on the move, of course). You really have to hear this cranked way up to believe it.

As the model names suggest, two engines are offered.

The M35 has the familiar 3.5-litre V6, long regarded as one of the world's finest automotive powerplants, generating in this application 280 horsepower at 6,200 r.p.m. and 270 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,800 r.p.m.

The M45 uses the 4.5-litre V8 adapted from the larger M45 and FX45, to produce 335 horsepower at 6,400 r.p.m. and 340 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,000 r.p.m.

It's supposed to be outstanding value as well, but that's in comparison with cars like BMW 530, Acura RL, Audi A6, etc.

Give it a look. Quite handsome IMO, very fast, nice interior, bluetooth.
But no folding seat, though. Just a pass through, AFAIK.

The new M certainly looks hot :D

The older one was great to drive and had a lovely interior in the front but the back seat was cramped given the size of the vehicle. I think thats why it did not sell all that well in comparison to the G or the Q.

Interior space cannot be judged by looking @ the car from the outside. The Altima I have is GINORMOUS on the inside even though its stance dictates otherwise. The RL on the other hand is TINY on the inside, incrementally larger than the TL even though its proportions dictate otherwise.

Further, I think the BMW mystique (other than for the M's) has worn thin over the years because other makers have come up with such excellent cars. The LS series from Lexus really made the dent and every year toyota attacks the germans with superior technology while Nissan and Honda attack with better all around performance and sports ability.

The g-35 coupe is my car of choice at the moment, soon as my Maxima is paid off I am likely to make a dive for it (if an Evo does not sidetrack me first :D )
