with a line like this who knows....."It's going to replace your PC and entertainment system"
"PSP has nothing on [Xbox360]"

I haven't listened to the audio, but I think we can derive two things from this.

1) XBox 360 is shaping up to be pretty awesome.

2) It's still too early to be saying how it rates against PS3, since of course we don't know anything yet.

Probably is, but it only makes me more eager to see what Sony and Nintendo has up their sleeve. This will be an exciting month in gaming.....

Prepare to be Slashdotted as a reliable rumor source. :LOL:

LOL, good point. :p

Oh well - after reading some more about it (yes I just can't bring myself to go through an extended audio clip), it doesn't seem to be anything we didn't already expect, per se - but I actually think the DVD burner is a great move if true; it would really complete that HTPC aspect.

As I said the consoles are going to be so close to each other that its not even funny . Each will do something a little better and a little worse than the others

It's funny, but to me, it feels like back in the days when Dreamcast was close to launch and details on PS2 surfaced. Despite how awesome Dreamcast looked, I never had any doubts that Sony would deliver something *at least as good 1 year later. It's quite similar now with Xbox360 and PS3 - the greater Xbox360 turns out to be, the more I'm expecting Sony to be at least as good - if not better - when they follow suit.

Coupled that with all the PlayStation typical franchises that made my choice clear this generation, I'm not sure I'm about to jump into next generation with any other console other than Sonys - and seeing their lineup for the year and possibly PSP - I'm sure I'm more enough than willingly to wait that one year to make my decision.

Call me biased - but I'm sure not the only one out there.

EDIT: * I was tired when I wrote that :oops:

Anyway this isn't the same thing . The ps2 cost sony around 400-450$ to produce when it first came out a year after the dreamcast came out which only cost sega around 200$ to produce.

THe ps3 will most likely come out in japan with in 6 -8 months of when the xenon launches in the usa and they would most likely both cost around the same to produce .

I wouldn't expect the same leap you saw between the dc and ps2 (though in actuality the graphics weren't far apart ) Think gamecube - xbox jump

I edited my post - slight typo. Anyway, you can argue as much as you want about costs and what not, it still doesn't change what market perception is and at that, anyone with half a brain will be expecting the later console launching later to be at least as good (even if this technically doesn't work out as each hardware will have shortcomings and other areas it will excell in).

My gosh, am I required to smoke some weed in order to get into the laybackness of that sneak preview? I want that 30 minutes of my life back :devilish:

With one big difference. Unlike Sega, Microsoft has tons of $$$.

And did it make MS win with Xbox 1?

More to the point, did it have to and was that what they were even aiming for?
They wanted a foothold in the market, they now have it, this generation is going to be quite interesting in a lot of ways.

Wow, I actually listened though the whole thing. While browsing and reading the web, of course (yes, even my tiny brain is capable of multi tasking). There are a few interesting tidbits. But damn, that women was quite annoying. She just keeps on yapping and yapping the entire segment. And I think some of the guys are just holding out on her.

:LOL: They're talking as guests at an exclusive MS party, of course they're going to say that (i believe the people interviewed were xbox fans who won a competition, so obviously you can't expect unbiased reporting).

I'm not so sure about that. I think Sony is willing to take a bigger upfront loss on PS3 than MS is on Xbox - MS wants to move very quickly to profitability on hardware with X360, probably quicker than Sony is willing to tolerate on PS3. Also consider than Sony can include more components at cost than MS can..

Anyway, cyberheater from GAF posted a good summary:

"Hardware:-

* DVD burner
* tivo capabilities
* customization for your xbox (faceplates)
* wireless
* text messaging on XBL
* xbox live button on the controller that pops up a menu with live options

The Games :-

Perfect Dark Zero
* Playable
* 22 weapons, able to import your own body (camera face/body mapping, i guess)
* you can fly with a jetpack on the map
* counter strike feel
* invisibilty gun
* strapped to wall gun - shots people when they walked by. (he means the laptop gun here, from the original game)

A new Medal of Honor game
* Battlefield like

A new Ghost Recon game
* Ghost Recon 3 with some new HUD

A medieval rpg. Possibly Elder Scrolls Oblivion"

A MS employee later states that they got the DVD burner thing wrong - there's no burner - so who knows what else is wrong here, but heh ;)

No mindblowing surprises, it seems. It seems there's no mention of the usual mass markety "casual" stuff from the likes of EA etc. - Madden? - that you'd think they'd showcase for a program like this, aimed at the wider audience, which is a bit surprising. I suppose, though, these guys may have been hesitant to talk about everything (even though they already broke their nda by sharing what they shared), and not everything in the final show may have been at this launch night.

Other bits I picked up from other leaks included Quake4 being there, Call of Duty aswell.

Tired...old...flawed...analogy. DC was released 18 months ahead of PS2. PS3 will be released within 12 months of Xenon. DC was $200 PS2 was $300. Thanks for playing...it is funny isn't it? Look I'm even laughing--> :LOL:

Oh, well back to no DVD burner? What is it that this clip revealed exactly then anyway? :LOL:

Apparently it'll all be "awesome" and "tight" :oops: ;)

Also, PD0 had some "rough patches". Framerate dipped in parts. Playable alpha, apparently.

I've a horrible feeling, having heard this and knowing Rare, this could slip from launch :( Then again, is a PD without framerate issues a PD at all? :devilish:
