Megadrive1988 said:heh, what if ATI launches R500 this spring instead of R420
nah, not possible. probably not.
How about R400 simply going into/being adapted for Xenon and never appearing on the desktop? Next stop R500geo said:Can the original R400 have now slipped all the way to R600?? Just how advanced was that sucker?

Quitch said:Is this because the R500 will be announced, we'll find it has nothing to do with DXNext which we all expect the X-Box 2 to be based around... or am I just plain wrong?
bigbud120 said:Nope. On May 5, ATI will open it's doors for the first time to 5 lucky winners. The winners will receive a guided tour of ATI research facilities + a lifetime supply of graphics cards. But you have to buy Wonka bars to win.
I assume R500 will be the first ATI VPU with SM 3.0
Nope
You'll find out why - May 5.
No doubt ATI needs additional people to help with R600 and the Xbox 2 variant
R600 will bring SM 4.0 - which Xbox 2 will also have, naturally
I would actually expect the X-Box 2 GPU to have more in common with the R500.
