Also, although I have set the lighting distance to max, also shadows to max, the distance at which shadows appear is still too close to me :( ! any tweaks for these?

I think it was r2_sunfar or something like that. Highest slider setting is 100, highest engine setting is 180. Then also some other settings for shadow LODs but I cant remember the settings.

Otherwise use some tweaked configs, makes nice improvements. I have some screenshots of how I play it. I think it is a serious contender to Crysis and top 3 best looking game besides Crysis games. Jawdropping despite inconsistent art/layout.

Heck even Fallout 3 with TSAA and AA and tweaks looks amongst the best I've seen. Heck browsing this thread I just saw my FC2 screenies... fu....... been off from playing for almost 3 weeks. Serious abstinence eminent*. :)

Why do your STalker:CS shots look blurry?Some extra glow I guess.

Fallout 3 never cut it for me. Too "everything looks the same" syndrome, I played for two days, my friensd were wowed by the graphics, but it never struck me as a beautifull game. To me Killzone 2 on the ps3 looks better than that, though it has very low res textures, but it has a very "grimy Lens" look to it, which along with their sound and art works great !

Far Cry 2 though looks great, I posted quite a few screens of that here, but it doesn't come out as beautiful as STALKER (even the original) and Crysis. They are just way ahead of all the others, wherever they become equal to the other titles in tech, they zoom ahead in the art.

Distance has DOF much the same effect like Uncharted 2/GTAIV. Gives nice depth to scene. Otherwise it might be the JPG compression rate.

I guess Fallout is one of those 'IMO' games but considering it's free roaming environment and that tiling is not really visible that much on ground it comes out as good. Mind you I have texture packs, tweaked config with greatly added detail. It's just how clean and sharp it looks with 4-8xAA and TSAA. Much like bullshots. Though they differ in tech and scope I see them pretty equal in several aspects. But lighting I give to F3 quite strongly. The depth, 'calibration' and tonemapping is outstanding. Then F3 lacxks in other areas. Granted I don't know if the console F3 versions have the same going by review comments. In the end IMO. ;)

Yeah a tweaked STALKER/C.S just pulls greatly ahead, especially indoors. Might even top Crysis indoors... :eek:

The new Crysis Wars map Ruins. Seems that i also can play with DX10 and gain about 10% fps but TSAA doesn't work (I had TSAA disabled for both DX9 and DX10 when testing). Should note that the DX10 gain is either catalyst 9.5 driver and/or mars DX10 update. ;(

Anyways 4xAA and TSAA below.

Yup!

Fallout 3 with mods. I downsized them from 1680x1050 to 1440x900 as counter becouse for some reason FRAPS is borked or DirectX in how screenshots are handled. TSAA gets off, and image looks jaggier than it should. Heck even downscaled it is not near as clean regarding edges as on my monitor live. :S

So true.

Tried out the Ruins map but in DX10. Good perfomance and lack of TSAA isn't really that obvious. Perhaps they tweaked something in the engine regarding vegetation filtering/effects?

I went online for some Instant Action on Ruins and I must say, it's the most beautiful map yet IMO. At certain times of day it is outright breathtaking. The way the foliage interacts with bullets and people is also stunning. You might be cloaked, but those bushes just gave you away :devilish:
 
Unreal Tournament 3 with latest patch + Titan Pack. Runs excellent at 1680x1050, 4xAA + TSSA (TSAA seems to work), max settings + 4x shadow resolution (1024x1024). At fatest bonanza 31 bot shootout with most in the same room lowest 40-60fps (will post some screens). :p

The characters look damn good, dont remember them looking this good before. Also I have enabled "EnableHighPolyChars=True" just incase it works.
