Honestly can't remember.
We don't know how much longer Cypress spent from initial tape-out to retail in comparison with Juniper.
Also the later launch of Juniper includes an element of stock-building, a period that is theoretically longer than that required for Cypress. But, again, no real numbers.
I suppose there's mileage in the idea that Barts will produce higher margin than Cayman as this new family ramps up.
Then there's the laptops question, where Cayman is essentially a no-go. The longer lead times for laptops bias things towards Barts or lower. Though there's apparently only 2 windows each year for new GPUs to go into new laptops.
Actually that brings up an interesting point. Is Barts too big/hot for laptops, as a replacement for Juniper?
I suppose there's also the competition for 40nm production capacity brought about by Ontario/Zacate. AMD's already shown that halo GPU production will be sacrificed in favour of OEMs and their preference for lower end parts.
Thanks for filling us in here. could you give us the numbers of the benchmarks too? I kind of like to know them.
The nice thing about Barts should be the OCing headroom.Even the most optimistic rumor puts Barts right under Cypress. 1280SP, 4D or not generally won't beat 1600SP@850MHz, unless AMD is willing to clock it much higher. -- That's excluding tessellation of course.
Max res for HD 5700/5800 is 3x2560x1600? XFX begs to differ:nApoleon has indirectly confirmed it's real.

These rumors of 320x4 seem a bit odd. Anyways even more odd is the fact that the tdp is almost the same as the 5850... Seriously if this is supposed to be a mainstream part shouldn't it be around 100W, and yeah I can see that the 6750 is ~115, but that is fairly high for a consumer pc. So this makes me agree with mao5 that it is a fake.
Not with a TDP of 146W, a default clock of 900Mhz and just one additional 6Pin power plug, thoughThe nice thing about Barts should be the OCing headroom.
Well... he confirmed, that Barts isn't HD6800. He also confirmed, that Barts is HD6800. At this moment Barts is HD6700.nApoleon has indirectly confirmed it's real.
