AMD confirms R680 is two chips on one board

So the 6pin/8pin power plugs will be indeed in that totally awkward position, perpendicular to the PCB... :???:

Didn't someone say in this thread that it was like that in earlier pics because it was merely an engineering sample ?

Who's saying that the above pic isn't ES too?
The custom PCB above has them in different angle.

Yeah, I didn't look at the cooler contents attentively enough. It looks like the 2900 OEM. Sorry, I R Retard:)

So, looks like the final revision of the board won't have memory chips on the back side. ;)
And the PCIe bridge looks to be the old 8500 series Gen1.

I've heard that some AIBs might come out with 2GB versions.... so those might have memory chips on the backside.

And isn't the R(V)7x0 series supposed to integrate the PCIe switch chip? That should get rid of that big ugly chip in the middle.

Anyway, looks like it's gonna be a hard launch on the 28th. AIBs already sent out reviewsamples (so expect more leaks soon ;) ). Prices in Europe will probably end up at around €400 (probably even lower when looking at the AIB -> distri prices (€305 without VAT).

Do you by chance know whether or not the 2GB versions will show up upon release/close to release. Or are they simply something that might be introduced based on the succes of the basic 3870X2?

Hm, if the next R700 generation is supposed to integrate inter-bridging functions of the currently external ASIC, then how the multiple GPUs would interface to the host PCIe logic (master/slave bypass)?

Its [not] official: this card wont fit in my case  /

If my measurements are correct, there might be a chance it'll fit, though its gonna be a pain installing/deinstalling the card

Aren't those the same scores/pics posted 10 posts before yours?
Yup. I missed them because they were just links. Oh well. So much for being able to break some exciting news for once lol.

Is there any truth to a silicon revision to the RV670 die?

Looks like they have 3870 over 900 MHz now with no increase in voltage.

Sapphire never let us down, They are now working on another version HD3870. This edition even higher than the Atomic version which just released to reviewers. The card have a dual slot cooler, four heatpipes totally and a very high Frequency.

It is a pity that these spy pics only have got shots on the power module part. Source said another two heatpipes are in the left side of the card. The cooler itself reminds me of NVIDIA 7900GTX.

The GPU frequency is at 904MHz, and core tempature is only 60 centidegree after the card done a 3Dmark05 and 3Dmark06 test. Source said Sapphire did not raise the voltage.

Please click on the pics to enlarge the pics for further imformations. Now the other spec and the date and the price are all unknown, and we are waiting for more info.
