AMD announced multiple new discrete AMD Embedded Radeon graphics options suitable for multiple form factors. The suite of products is specifically designed to advance the visual and parallel processing capabilities of embedded applications.

Three Levels of Performance
The graphics cards span three levels of performance within the embedded market: Ultra-High Performance, High Performance and Power Efficient. These offerings are as follows:

• Ultra-High Performance: The AMD Embedded Radeon� E8950MXM Modulle, the highest performing embedded graphics processing unit (GPU) from AMD.
• High Performance: The AMD Embedded Radeon� E8870 Series (MXM annd PCIe), offering high performance solutions for virtually any embedded application.
• Power Efficient: The AMD Embedded Radeon� E6465 Series (MCM, MXXM and PCIe) providing excellent processing performance at low levels of power consumption.

Top one is sounds like a rebrand of the existing R9 M295/M390 cards.

The bottom one shouldn't be Cape Verde. That's a 10CU part and that one only has 2 CUs.
Unless they really did cut 80% of the compute resources..

Caicos rather than Cape Verde. It's the ultra-cheap option for clients that need only low-res graphics functionality.

That is a really vintage part there.
Just to put this in perspective, this gets blown away even by intel ivy bridge (hd 4000) IGP, and it'll lose against higher-end smartphones as well.
Albeit it can beat Bay Trail's IGP (ought to be close to Braswell)...
At least it got gddr5 memory, so there's some chance you could actually drive some high res display(s) (4 outputs, which is nice) without running into display buffer underruns (albeit clearly that would have to be limited to 2d compositing, not really 3d use).

To this day Radeon 5450 is still sold, as well as 6450 and the R5 230. It's a good option to run linux if you want a properly working driver no matter what distro version etc. you run.

hey im still using Radeon HD 5730 laptop and its still bloody fast. It can run Witcher 3 at eye bleeding 20fps!!!

btw nowadays laptop from 500 USD can be had with i3 + nvidia x20 to x40 GPU. Isnt those have better price/performance/electricity/heat ratio?

LOL @orangpelupa my Lenovo Y460 still runs the HD 5650, which is the underclocked version of your 5730. If fully overclocked to the hilt, it can run GTAV all-lowest settings at 720p with a framerate of about 25fps

Some day I'll buy a new gaming laptop. Not this year though...

Still a solid cards for HTPCs as well, though that market drying up with EOL for WMC finally.
