A couple of PS3 tidbits

Methinks Sony is just buying time cuz all they have are videos and half-baked games. After X05, Sony will have to come correct. Videos won't cut it against real games.

I don't like my brownies kinda done...

Technically, he's right. If it's fully baked, it would have been playable...;)

He is....but what would you expect at this point in time. Thats what makes it funny/weird. Half-Baked is to express something that is done but not cooked fully. Meh...play on words.

What's changing at X05 that didn't happen at E3, GDC and TGS? I don't see how it's gonna make much of a difference this year when the 360 will sellout regardless this holiday. And if they are launching anytime next Spring, it's kind of a given that they will have to have games playable. Not sure where you're going with this. PEACE.

No, half-baked. Not fully baked. Nothing concrete. All they have are concept videos and if it's not a concept video, it's not worth showing.

(...along the lines of big rabbit-outta-the-hat announcement predictions...) What do you suppose would be the threshold theme for an announcement that would cause all but even the X360 diehards to throw up their hands and say, "Aw geez...this is pretty much game over...I don't know how they did it, but damn this generation is now officially Kutaragi'd!"

Think deeply now...

For instance, what if it was announced:
•fall 2005 release
•PS3 is dual-Cell+RSX
•retail cost is $350
•2 games on release date
•free online game content promotional into Spring 2006
•widespread game releases scheduled for Spring 2006 and beyond

Mind you- the question is not how outlandish the announcement is, but what is the minimal amount to convince anybody that a tko is eminent?

First off, I dont' think thats a good question to ask (on both spectrums). Secondly, I wouldn't put that much weight into this (Origin killed my faith in mysterious countdown clocks with weird letting on branches that are obscenly small yet someone found it through the grace of something). So the same would apply to dates that bring us MONUMENTAL news.

All those things seem plausible, except for the bolded. Everything else treads the line between far out there and down to earth. I think the release date could be a likely announcment...although...thats not very monumental. The retail cost unveiling...yeah....$350? that would be VERY big. So that could be something.

For now thats the two i'm looking at.

I don't think you are reading the same list I am. Also, plausible means "Seemingly or apparently valid, likely, or acceptable". I really hope you don't think a fall 2005 launch is plausable unless you think a paper launch is valid. Randycat, are you saying that the system will have 2 games available upon launch as in two games available for purchase? Also, your question is ridiculous.

LOL..I didn't even notice that. I was thinking 2006....omg....thats crazy . Yeah. I don't think a Fall 2005 launch is plausible. So consider that one bolded!

NOTHING!!!

But what they can do, is maybe focus more on their existing platforms, PS2 & PSP, in order try and slow down the X360 uptake. They have some good software for the PS2 coming out (ok, I'm only thinking Shadow of the Colossus) and the PSP is slowly but surely becoming very popular!

Now that TGS has come and gone, and still no PS3 gameplays, maybe they can push their existing platforms (price cut?) to soften the X360 blow!

People- get a grip. This was not about the plausibility of an epic announcement, it was about what announcement would effect a consumer perceived tko? (...because honestly, we are beating the dead horse daily here about plausibilities of zany scenarios- perhaps, it is time for something slightly different)

I hear ya! But, until someone brings in a new horse that we can beat to death, this still presents a *possibility* (0.01%...but hey) of something interesting, and it's fun to speculate. Isn't that what we do 99.99% of the time?;)

i think something that would shock everyone is the remake of Final Fantasy 7 with the graphic on par with Advent Children. Other than that i dont see anything that can shock me or anyone anymore.

Graphics on par with Advent Children??

Have you seen Advent Children? Nothing like that will be done in realtime for years to come :???:

Realli, i thought the Final Fantasy 7 tech demo is somewhat on par with advent children in term of character model.

Nope. Close maybe to untrained eyes (which i guess is a good thing!), but really, not even close.
Advent Children is no FFTSW but it's definately much much more complex than PS3 so-called-realtime demos.
