Exactly. The game doesnt look bad because we set higher standards. Ist quite clear that the devs have set extremely low standards on the 360

It seems to have been downgraded a bit but to compare it to the PS2 version is ridicolous.

As for the grounds and blurry textures, this is common on flight games where there are large areas to render and to store on either the HDD or DVD/other media and stream from.

FSX takes up ~14GB on the HDD, 11GB for scenery (world parts, objects, textures) and 4GB for the rest.

AC5 The Unsung War (PS2).

These are bad captures from the PS2 version. The game is much better looking than that on the PS2.

The gameshell pics are much better and more representative than the other pics you posted. Still I recall the game looking much better than that on the PS2

And what I see from that site and what I see from 360, thats still not the improvement that should be expected on 360. Really, the difference isnt big enough considering the platform it is running on. Difference is there but 360 can do MUCH better than that

Fully agree on that. The lightning needs to be improved a lot and the textures could be improved a bit to. But texture streaming in a flight game is taxing for the CPU. For example FSX settings has reserved ~33% of the CPU time for texture streamming.

Thats one aspect I wrongfully didnt take into account.

Perhaps there is much more into the game technically than what we can see from screenshots then.
:smile:

Maybe we want improvements on the visuals too much than on other parts of the game.

Btw do you have any link you can provide that tells more about the texture streaming?

If you mean for FSX then there was a dev for the game that revealed the setting so that users where able to override it. This becouse some had delayed texture swapping and could see low-res textures to close to the FOV. Theres quite a lot of textures to swap all the time, ground, buildings, vegetation. This has to be done in a circle with great diameter around the player.
I myself need to set it to 50% to avoid getting blurry textures when flying with fast planes (the game needs to change textures more frequent).

[Main]
FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.33

This variable determines the amount of CPU time given to loading scenery data as a fraction of the time spent rendering. For example, the default value of 0.33 means that for every 3 milliseconds spent rendering, FS will give 1 millisecond to the scenery loader. If necessary, you can use a larger value to devote more time to loading. Or, if you don't have a problem with the blurries and you want slightly higher frame rates, then you can use a smaller value.

Pfft. I dont buy it, streaming might be taxing, but the ground textures are hardly high rez.
