Personally the TP took away some of my enjoyment during boss fights as I had to constantly looking for them and ended up dead many times. While it wasn't to the point of unbearable but if anything I just wish they'll stay a bit longer and balance up the duration.Dude, the thermal powerbar was an integral part of the game AND the story. It would be kinda stupid if you didn't need thermal energy to survive. The whole point of killing the alien enemies was to get thermal power to survive and move forward. It added a nice gameplay element that made the game more interesting and challenging especially in online MP. I don't know where you got the idea the thermal energy bar will be gone. From the trailer it looks like you're still wearing thermal suits and the bosses are still glowing with thermal energy.
Capcom has refused to confirm that Lost Planet 2 will be an Xbox 360 exclusive.
Earlier today Capcom supplied more details on the upcoming title (confirming that it will indeed deliver a co-op multiplayer campaign mode for up to four players).
Yet the publisher was fairly ambiguous regarding which consoles Lost Planet 2 would arrive on. Capcom stated the title is “being developed for the Xbox 360”, but didn’t go as far as say exclusively. Capcom was, however, not shy in reminding that the announcement was delivered “exclusively” on Xbox Live.
Edge contacted Capcom to bring clarity to the situation, yet a representative for the publisher could not take the opportunity to brand the game as an exclusive. “All we can say at this time is that we’ve announced Lost Planet 2 for the 360,” he responded. "That's all I can say."
In September last year Capcom stated that "...all major titles launched during the next fiscal year or thereafter will be developed as multiplatform games.”
Was the first game really that good ? I remember beating it but i bought it at a very slow time in the xbox 360s life and remember it not being very good game play wise. now that the 360s library has matured and more games are released each month does a sequal really have a place on the console ?

I liked the graphics at the time, and thought the game had promise, but...
I hated those thermal orbs and having to constantly hunt from them. To me it was a huge distraction from what I'm sure was an otherwise good game.
Never played it after the first boss.
And yes, I understand the game's storyline depended on it, but for me it just wasn't an enjoyable mechanic. Tedious - yes. Boring - yes. Stressful - yes. Fun - no... At least for me.

Most of the time you have to kill the enemies anyway and they just drop thermal power. Unless you played the game without killing the enemies, I'm not sure why it's an issue. Also you could get a bunch of TP when you activate those guide posts.
I found the gameplay simplistic but fun with a few beers
The original game got pretty good reviews scores so you are likely the few who didn't like the gameplay. I have the Colonies edition and I'd give it a 8 out of 10 overall. The story mode is pretty straight forward in terms of mission objectives. It's no different from games like CoD.
