360 individual console specific framerate fluctuations

In which case, what happens running a PAL60 game on a 50Hz TV?

Most PAL tv's can diaplay 60hz pictures, some of the older ones may letter box the picture when using PAL 60. (depends on the set)

The dev's for Full Auto should have locked this game to 30 fps it would have solved many of the problems. (perhaps they can release a patch to frame skip,i very much doubt they will)

Well, all my sets (and this includes very old ones) display PAL60 fine. This is also the first time I've read 'most' can't display it.

I don't think you're right, or I'm a lucky b*****d. :)

My old Sony upstairs couldn't cope with 60Hz, but it's a very nice picture. Does this mean XB360 wouldn't run on that TV? I know most (all) 'modern' TVs support both 50 and 60 Hz, so maybe it's a non-issue for 99% for owners. Still, another incompatibility problem is moving consoles ever closer to that crappy PC mess model, rather than the simple 'plug it in and run' that makes console gaming so accessible. In 20 years time, if things continue like this, we'll be flippen' installing drivers, getting hardware conflicts between TVs, consoles and Audio equipment, getting buggy games released ahead of completion and then a year of bug fixes before the thing actually plays like a final game...

I've never, ever come across a PAL tv that can't display a 60hz Pal picture propperly. What's more, neither have any of my gaming chums. Not saying there aren't any, obviously, but in a decade of using 60hz pal stuff and on a lot of tvs (some dating back to the 80's) I've not found it.

Edit: Though I'm glad to see consoles moving to 60hz PAL as standard, if a game was propperly converted I someties perferred the extra resolution of PAL 50. Sharper image and all that, though the flicker is worse.

TV cards for PCs, now there's another issue. The cards normally support it but finding drivers or display software that works with them can be a right arse.

What kind of 60hz signal? If you used a PS2, that might have been NTSC rather than 60hz pal. Did it work with a PAL Dreamcast, GC or Xbox?

Never tried. Dunno. Hopefully this isn't an issue and I'm just behind the times :p

Maybe you could try buying a Dreamcast and Dead or Alive 2. Not only is it a cheap way to test, but you also get the Xbox 360's best game for a fraction of the cost! :p

Well, I've probably *seen* them, but what I mean is that I've never tried to play a 60hz console on anything that's not supported it. It's a hunch, but my the black and white, 4 channel (it had 4 preset channels! Wow!) telly my gran had years ago *might* have struggled with it ... :D
