[360] Alan Wake - Still awake

Vsync and triple buffering.

I doubt MS will deliver a half-hearted effort. They will address the visual issues one way or another.

Looked good, they need to get this out there ASAP or else theyre in danger of doing a duke-nuke-em, i.e. uncharted 2 comes out and raises the bar, thus they want to match it which in turn delays the game another year in the mean time another game comes out which raises the bar even further etc.

Looked like a nice story (only saw the one film), though very cliched (but thats not bad cause I love that sort of cliche :) )

They are saying that the night time gameplay is story bound & non-sandbox while the day time gameplay is like a mini sandbox. I donno if its all truth as till now we've only seen night time gameplay.

It's also more than 6 months away too, which should be a lot of time for spit and polish if the actual game is already finished (from what I recall hearing...). But here's hoping at any rate...

Didn't anyone else find the narrator's very existence jarring? Whatever tension would be built, that seems to destroy.

Well they have it for the TV Serial like feel....I think it sets the mood right for it.

Btw this game still coming to PC ?

They haven't mentioned it... I'd be surprised if it weren't coming at some point given the demoing with Intel a couple years back and mention of Vista-only support. But who knows. It might entirely depend on its sales on 360. (Or maybe they've waited all this time for PC users to upgrade. )

*shrug* :p

I think it looks good, but to the trained eye, how good is it really from a technical perspective?

I understand that the open environments and such in this game takes its toll on graphics, but can it technically be compared to eg Uncharted 2(took that game since it is said to have the best console graphics)?

This is not the forum to be making platform-exclusive comparisons.

This is one of the best looking upcoming titles. The mood is great! Use of lighting is very good. The TV series vibe is fitting IMO. Although I do wish they had a wobbly torch beam, even though for gameplay reasons they may well decide against it.

This would be a surperb title for Natal. Imagine holding torch in one hand, gun with the other, creeping through the wood! Although I don't know how you'd control movement in that case. This is where you'd want a handheld control. A Wii-style nunchuck thumbstick in the left hand to move would be a nice fit.

I hope that it is not too much horror, as I always am scared to death and don't like those games
Isn't that the genre this is going for?!

The new footage looked great, the lighting and fog are adding convincingly eerie atmosphere indeed. The tearing and framerate dips were pretty bad, hope they fix them when complete. The setting kinda suggests a mixture of Cloverfield monster and blair witch project, very much my cup of tea.

Yep, and it's unfortunate for me, since I don't play scary games.
I dont think its gonna be that out and out scary but more like the recent films

Gwoemul
cloverfield
the mist

That is what I hope. I know that it is supposed to be scary, but how much

For instance...Dead Space was to much for me.
I enjoy relaxed gaming, which is not possible when I am scared to death!

It appears you avoid playing the games with "In your face" horror or "monster jumping from darkness" kind of stuff. From what I've seen of Alan Wake it feels more closer to suspense than being close to horror.
