[360] Alan Wake - Still awake

Pirates dont buy software.

The amount of people who say "I'm going to pirate it and try it out, and if I like it buy it" and then actually carry that out is very small.

As for AW, I wouldn't be surprised at all at a 6 month or one year console exclusive. The reason is, there are some, who own both a gaming PC and 360, who will torrent it on PC, and this will cost some console sales if the release is simultaneous. Admitted or not this is the reason for a lot of delayed PC ports these days (SF4 comes to mind).

You can "pirate" on 360, more riskily but possibility is here.
And thinks that AW is a very good candidate for the PR "Trojan" I'm explaining before:

Customer: "Whaou! This game is a Tech God! Damn He need a Monster PC, that I'm can't buying!!

X360 PR guy:" He! Now you have it on 360 for 179€, and he's more beautiful than that you saw before!!"

Customer: ":D"

Seems bad PR by Remedy; They should have shut down possibility of PC version just because those who knows how to get it free will wait despite owning a 360.

I'm not getting were the "its better looking than before" bit is coming from. I've seen no graphics improvements between the old and the recent footage.

TBH I'm not sure anyone was expecting to need a monster PC to run it either. I was certainly expecting to play on my GTS 640 at max details.

This is getting way off topic now. For the time being, there is no PC version. Those wanting to discuss the likelihood of Alan Wake appearing on PC need to create a thread in the PC Games forum. This thread is now being returned to the topic of what the game is about, etc.

...What the heck is the point of having my rig if I cant play games?
You can play SC:Conviction and Assasin's Creed2 and Mass Effect2 and Mafia2 etc.
So you don't need to make such a fuss over a 360 exclusive.

Edit: i just saw Shifty's post...

Showcase on the PC from 2005 IIRC x1800 -> 2006/2007 Intel Quad physics demo was smooth for that/those version(s). However unless I missed it the only gameplay video I've seen on the 360 was this E3's showcase. Ran with very low framerate and lots of tearing but I heared that scene will be cutout or?

I hate console people. What the heck is the point of having my rig if I cant play games?

Hey wait until the soup is ready before you proclaim it as the "one". And dont forget the banquet to your left... and right.. and on your bed and under your feet before wanting more! :p

I'm not speaking in reel performance, all my speech is on a marketing POV, so a distort reality, far far from real! ;)

new gameplay vid...dim the lights and surround sound is a necessity for this one:

but thats off-screen :( ! I will wait for the PC version even if it arrives a year late !

EDIT: I just don't like the "Tonight on Alan Wake" treatment :devilish: ! I am not watching a soap ! I am bloody PLAYING the game, not watching it. What if I am playing in the afternoon? Whats on Alan Wake "Tonight" then?

Why do devs want their game to be the movie or the sitcom, Its a game, thats why we buy it :devilish: ! Alone in the dark did this approach, and look what happened!

^ Alone in the dark did this approach & it didnt failed because of that..but because of flaws in Gameplay. IMO its very good to have a few games this way.

Btw anyone else find the Flashlight to be weird ?
The Halo of flashlight is weird.

I cant believe people say this, have you ever used a real flashlight??

That's what they look like.

Not to be a drama queen, but I just cant believe there are people dont know what a real flashlight beam looks like. I guess city folk?

Anyways, the gameplay vid looks pretty good, but it's the EXACT same as the E3 scenario. I mean it may be a different playthrough, but nothing new at all is shown.

I also dont like that "Tonight on Alan Wake" thing. But, it should be easy to ignore and not affect the actual game.

Well, you don't usually see the actual beam of light either. That's just nitpicking, though.

It's curious that there's some sort of bullet-time, though it doesn't seem to be player-controlled (is it)? But at least we know what the game is like, now.

Actually...you dont see a beam of light surrounded by another bigger Halo. and have u seen how small & bright that inner Halo is even when its so far from its source ? I thought in reality the radius grows & the light becomes fainter as the distance increases from the source, here it remains same.

Yes this would count into nitpicking...but its just me that feels stuffs like this to be out of place lol :p

Yeah you do :D

Get a big mag light, the 4 D cell kind, and go outdoors in a dark area. You see a beam and a halo.

Edit: You may need to shine off into the distance a bit as well, and it may work a lot better with less light pollution.

Edit 2, looking at the vid again, the "beam" may be a bit strong and laserlike compared to reality. Still pretty accurate though.

Depends on the type of flashlight and the flashlight design.

Some of them have a very focused beam out to quite some distance. Likewise some LED designed flashlights have virtually no halo. While some traditional incadescent or halogen based flashlights can have an absolutely huge halow.

That looks absolutely fantastic. Can't wait for release. I went on a bit of a AW media hiatus (not sure why though). I'm getting a vague recollection about episodic content? Can anyone confirm or deny? And if true have they spoken in detail about exactly how it'd work?

Only nitpick is the voice-over. Kills the otherwise excellent mood somewhat. I'm sure it may have been in for a while and sits well with the whole author thing but, as I said, I've been on a hiatus so was a little saddened by it on this viewing, (it might grow on me though, especially when I find some context for it).
