2 new Perfect Dark Zero screenshots

Rare normally releases pictures that perfectly describe their games. Why these shots look like upscaled scans is totally beyond me. You can see compression artifacts all over the place.

Apparently, in the latest Xboxyde vid, of the X05 presentation, Rare confirms that the game is not using AA. It's using motion blur "instead". That seems to jive with what was being said earlier, that MSAA isn't required, but "a form of AA", where things like motion blur and DOF qualify.

edit - I just watched the vid myself. It's hard enough to hear, over the music, but basically the journalist notes that the game doesn't seem to be using anti-aliasing, the Rare person says no, this bit was hard to catch but he might have said "it's not done yet", but goes on to say that they've got motion blur which provides some anti-aliasing, and that they're not using the anti-aliasing. So at the very least, as it is now, it's not using AA.

Is the motion blur/DOF a "and/or" tradeoff for MSAA (with less of a penalty?), or can Xenos do two or more of these "effects" at the same time, and is just currently limited due to the lack of the optimization for beta/final dev-kits?

(I'm sorta new to all of this, and am not anywhere near as tech-savvy as the people that usually post here, so please excuse any questions that might seem "dumb".)

There is no hardware restriction on how many "effects" you can apply. It's all doen to the software.

So can RARE still use AA or does Perfect Dark make a tradeoff of not using AA for other effects?

I realize that, but I just figured those effects use various hardware-related resources, and that at some point the amount of effects would eventually be limited by that. I just wondered whether MSAA + one or two other effects are possible without a sizable hit to those resources...as there is speculation on various other boards that say different.

and like I said, I'm not tech-savvy.

The game looks great. Sure it's not Gears of War, but yet, i find the graphics (From the videos) very appealing.

From a Technicall standpoint is IMO more advanced than any PC game out. It think that's pretty good, sure the artsyle is questionable, i myself dig it.

What ticks me off is that Cutcenes and Pics of the game look worse than gameplay. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Lol

 Hey man I was thinking the samething.

It has a not quite plasticy coloring to it where it looks cartoony yet realistic at the same time .

ITs hard to explain but they look so similar . Its a diffrent look than doom3 or halflife 2 . I kinda like it . But as long as the gameplay is good i will play

Sorry that this is Off Topic, but JVD do you post in GAF as TTP?
why would i post at a forum with even more trolls than the ones here (which is already extremely high)

Do you post here as chap or deadmeat ?
