007 : casino royale 1 of the greatest movies of all time?

No, that's a serious question. What ties to Hollywood does a movie need to have to be called a "Hollywood movie"? I wouldn't call Casino Royale (or any other Bond, for that matter) a Hollywood movie, despite the involvement of MGM and Columbia Pictures.
Well since the production companies behind Casino Royale are considered part of the big American cinema industry which as we all know is famously centered on Hollywood(wether they're actually based there or not) Casino Royale is indeed a Hollywood movie. Hollywood is synonymous for the big American movie industry, has been that way for a few decades I don't know where you've been...

The sony products all over were weak and distracting.

Haha yeah I notice this a lot in SONY movies, it's very tacky. I also notice that 99% of recent movies have DELL advertising in them...ugh.

I did enjoy this movie, but I still liked Miami Vice more.

Wow, then this movie probably sucked balls because MV was SSSSSLLLLOOOOOOOOWWWW.

If by Dell you mean Apple then I agree. Really I do notice it a lot in movies however where there's "cleaver" use of products EVERYWHERE that just gets down right annoying.

 my lord, some people.

some people what? its true! i was already familiar with Daniel Craig from some of his other movies, he doesnt have the Bond look at all, not in body or in the face. Can you remember the last Bond that looked like they could be in a Calvin Klein underwear add?

but I still liked Miami Vice more.

Doesnt say much since that was easily one of the worst high budget action films Michael Mann has produced.

Casino Royale is made by Eon Productions which are based in London and has always been based in London. So Casino Royale is not a Hollywood movie, it's british, like every other Bond movie.

Cheers

exactly, thats why this bond is so good. he looks like a TRAINED killer. trained mentally, skillfully, AND physically. i would imagine a trained killer would inevitably be put in a situation to rely on hand to hand combat, and would want to be in excellent physical shape.

But then again, he is put down every time it comes to that. And very witty?

I just watched it yesterday... My wife and I like it a lot ! Based on some article last year, I remember the production team wanted to update the Bond franchise in the following ways:

* Ms. Flemming wanted the Bond series to go back to its Espionage Drama + Triller roots instead of yet another Hollywood action flick (more and more gadgets and chereographed fight scenes).

* Ian Flemming himself disliked handsome Bonds... his logic was that a spy has to stay inconspicuous. A good looking Bond who garners attention the moment he enters the hall is exactly the opposite.

* Ms. Flemming fought to keep Daniel Craig in... vs other more good looking but softer actors (They looked like male runway models to me)

* This time, they wanted to present Bond in a more realistic setting (more gritty, tougher choices, harder work, ...)

Overall, I like how Casino Royale zoomed into and extended individual characters' personal conflicts more (even for Le Chiffre). It shows more depth and twist. I would recommend this movie highly to anyone. Don't know about best movie in history though.

what? this isnt a jet li movie buddy, these fights are much more realistic. in the real world even trained fighters cant duck and dodge every hit and never take a single blow. when was he ever put down?

Daniel Craig is one of the better Bonds, I'm happy with him being the new guy. I don't know about the story and the plot and shit though, it was all kind of "meh" for me. The foot chase sequence near the beginning kicked some mighty ass though.
