What seems strange is on the last two xdk's there is XDK written on it proudly, also a screen for debug info.

This seems awfully retail bar the lack of fcc blurb.

The return of overpriced proprietary storage?

They definitely need some type of expandable storage solution though, 1TB internal aint gonna cut it. And with all the talk about NVME super speed etc, I figured plugging random drives into USB aint gonna work this gen.

Most folks probably don’t even know what NVME is, so... having a branded Console-rated piece you can just slide in without worrying about performance and satisfy the box requirements would be a not-terrible thing.

Could also see a situation where the console comes with a cartridge/cradle thing that users can plop an NVME drive into for easy and safe installation with no opening up of the console itself needed.

How about selling one packaged in a branded console case and also communicate that you can also purchase any NVME and do it if you want

Seems to me like it fits with the things the Xbox team has been saying about using "SSD as ram" and "investing in I/O" aswell as what Tom Warren said about there being some "memory paging magic"?

Why not both? NVMe is just PCI-e, you can make a debug system that plugs into that.

Why even use a strange port?

It's got ethernet for very simple output from the os, USB for anything.

Seems overly complicated

Edit it also lacks the usual XDK branding like it's actual closer to retail that usual, would retinal still have a debug port?
