ZOE2 question (Snow, swarm & particle effects)

The Famitsu scores are out:

PS2 Anubis ZOE 9/8/8/8 : 33 ** gold

Not bad. I'm sure I will get this game.

Each number is an overall score from one of the reviewers. 10 is the max. So it's 33 of max 40 points.

Are there any confirmed gameplay additions to ZOE2?

I recieved my copy of ZOE with that $110 MGS2 demo I bought, and I tried my best to get into the game and enjoy it, as I like action titles, side-scrolling BEU's as well as games featuring mechs but I couldn't.

Thus unless ZOE2 has had some radical gameplay improvements, I can't help but feel that ZOE2 will garner large review scores based on its visuals. IMO ZOE was the next-generation's definition of repetition.

33/40? That is so disappointing. :?
I expected at least a 35, a 38/40 will have gone well with all the hype and anticipation i seen around the internet.

ZOE2 got reviewed like another average~good game rather than an AAA title. :(
Too bad Konami failed me again.

NICE ONE!

Too bad the average Japanese are not into FPS! So the average Halo score is not surprising. 8) Have you read IGN insider report on how Japanese are not getting into Metriod Prime as well as......HALO!

ZOE2 has this is whachacall, MECHS! ANIME SHADING! CRAZY EXPLOSION! KONAMI! KOJIMA! The average score is somewhat disappointing. :( The internet hype was too much.

Prime's out in Japan? Didn't know that.

Well, when was the last time you heard a FPS breaking the million sales mark? Do we even have any FPS selling more than 500k. There could be, but you do not hear of such occurance happening regularly.

How about the number of FPS games major Japanese developers make annually? Not that much i seeing. :?

Hey yah, do not be forgetting that i am with the average Japanese gamers here, so there can still exist some who love the FPS genre but that is not a popular or widespread thing u see. The genre just do not work there.

So ? Not all consoles FPS breaks the million mark in States either. Not everyone in States are into FPS either, and those who do, seems to be kinda picky with their FPS.

They are probably busy making other type of games, but it doesn't mean Japanese aren't into FPS.

Perhaps they like their FPS with keyboard and mouse.

Talking about other games, DOAX VB (available on Jan/23) sold 78K+ copies in 4 days for the week Jan/20-Jan/26 and ranked #2 in the Dengeki online chart for that week.

It is pretty hard to have X-BOX games ranked under 5 in Japanese sales charts, the bouncing DOA girls made a difference.

ZoE2 scored 39/40 in Dengeki! (Chap falls unconscious!  ) 9/9/9/10

ZoE1 scored quite lower than 33/40 in famitsu.

Too bad the average Japanese are not into FPS! So the average Halo score is not surprising.
Perhaps gamers are not, but the reviewers surely would be objective enough to recognize the quality of the title? Or *maybe* those same reviewers don't always recognize the quality games every time they see them?

V3, no matter how you spin it, the FPS genre is not too hot in Japan.

ZoE2 scored 39/40 in Dengeki!
Dorimaga you meant. 8) So how is the credibility and reputation of that magazine in Japan, compared to Famitsu?

ZoE1 scored quite lower than 33/40 in famitsu.
ZoE1 got :?: :?: :?:
Still, 33/40 is a disappointing after all the internet hype. I swear it was a big as Halo, but the difference being one delivered, one fell short of the mark. Take a guess which is for which? :p Reminds me of MGS2, nice hype, nice game but just stopping short of full gaming bliss. o_O

ZoE2 has to be a flawed game to get that score. Do not be shockie if the flaws happend to be what i feared! Arena fighting, restricted movement, repetitive gameplay, and cutscenes, cutscenes, cutscenes, cutscenes breaking up the flow of the game!

Japanese developers, style over substance.

It is still reviewed by Japanese people. What do you think IGN will give some horse racing sims? Don't blame them for the average ZoE2 score. Looking forward to the Metroid Prime Famitsu review. :D

Don't be a clown... Halo was being hyped long before it was even an Xbox game...

Dorimaga you meant. So how is the credibility and reputation of that magazine in Japan, compared to Famitsu?

Comparable. It's actually a more 'deluxe' gaming rag. Famitsu encompasses a much wider business and has a higher issue rate (Dorimaga is monthly, Famitsu is weekly)...

V3, no matter how you spin it, the FPS genre is not too hot in Japan.

It's not so much the genre as it is the relative lack of character and story development in most (and due to the first person aspect you see very little of the character). Mecha simulators offer the most potential however...
