ZOE2 question (Snow, swarm & particle effects)

I actualy love to play the VR missions in MGS2:Substance

But you are right, MGS2 was more like a movie and graphic engine demo then anything else. The first level was the most amazing part of it. Played it for hours in the pre released demo.

Eh, i was not talking about MGS2. In fact, ZOE2 with MGS2 gameplay structure will be fine, very fine. THe ability to explore one connected world is righto! :D

I am afraid of ZOE2 becoming a arena base game, you see. kojima has said ZOE2 will be more action, without the aimless wandering about.

Sounds not too good for me. Instead of cutting away the exploration art, he should have expanded on that. Straight out action w/ many many B grade cutscenes is boring.

Do not waste the engine mr kojima. Things like this is making me question my faith in Japanese developers...

Too many games are allowing for aimless wandering around. Screw that I say. Good linear games can be much better experience if they are interesting enough. Did Ico suffer because you could not backtrack to the beginning of the game? Did Halo? Not at all, in my opinion.

Fighting and action is what ZoE is about, and I'll be happy if they ditched the backtracking from the first game.

I thought ZOE had alot of wandering around, not enough action. Wandering around aimlessly is tiresome, when too many games are backlog.

Fighting in restricted arenas is worse. Why turn ZOE2 into a DOA like fighter?

Fly around Konami, fly around! Wide areas, ability to go anywhere, no restrictions to backtracking, more mission options than just blasting evil mechs.

Honest question: Do you even think before you post?

It's very obvious they are not turning it in the DOA like fighter (as you are fighting swarms of enemies) - and after all, even if they did exactly that - why to hell not? Because you think a free roaming game would work better?

Yes i do!
By DOA, i meant the game is locked in enclosed areas and not 2 vs 2 battles.
ZOE2 wilth free roaming would indeed    8) .

I want my game with substance and not mindless shooting in arenas.

Games with substance? You're a total graphics whore, why would substance matter at all to you?

And by the way, keep your filthy hands offa my PS2 thread in the future, or I'll come stick that XB of yours up your bum sideways mmkay? ;)

*G*

And to have a substance game must not be linear huh?

Halo was all shooting AND it was linear - so by that, it wouldn't fare well into your definition of 'substance'.

Anybody else find the irony/hypocriticism in chap's love craze for Panzer Dragoon after reading his comments in this thread?

I think I just got hit by a truckload of it ;)

Not linear my fellow gamers, but enclosed arenas! Halo might be straight forward action but it puts you in a massive battlefield that is outright amazing! I call it the WAR feel!

ZOE2, now watch the mega Ruliweb video. You will noticed that Jehuty cannot move freely around the stage. You can see that once you dispatch a group of enemies and you move forward, that last area will be seal off. Now do that throughout the game and it will feel really restricted with no sense of epic scale...

PDO is played the Panzer Dragoon way, and it rocks!
ZOE2 NEEDS to have free roaming areas, blastem those pesky mechs and watch the lightshow. That will be    . But to fight in enclosed areas...   what a waste of the engine.

But you are right, MGS2 was more like a movie and graphic engine demo then anything else.
If the gameplay in MGS2 was anything less than stellar you might have a point. As it is, I strongly disagree :)

And more often it puts you in a bunch of claustrophobic corridors.

And ZoE2 is played ZoE2 way, and apparently it also rocks, linearity or not, closed areans or not. Just give it up already, you seriously don't make any sense anymore.

Yuppy! Bungie acknowledged that flaw in Halo 1 and looks set to amend it in Halo 2! RoXOR!

ZOE2 looks great! Still, do you not want to game to be more free flowing rather than in enclosed battles? Do you not feel the waste of a great engine in such cases? :(
If kojima got things right, he will put Jehuty, with ZOE2 engine, in a Halo outdoor scale sized battle! BaWOWZA!!!!!! PS2 GOTY 2003!!!!

No, I do not feel it's a waste of an engine, and frankly I don't care, as long as the game is fun and good looking. Do you feel PDO is a waste of an engine because it's on-rails?

ok man. you feel good so i will feel good for you too. :)
as for me, at least give me a few levels of Halo Silent Cart sized and Flood mayhem in ZOE2 and it will make me

PDO is made on rails, off rails and it will lose the PDO shooting fun.

What's this Halo claustrophobic talk about? That game has some of the most expansive outdoor environments I've ever seen, especially after counting the multiplayer deathmatch levels. The ice level is insane, Blood Gulch is insane, etc. Even the indoor environments feature some seriously huge rooms. Compared to most other first-person shooters, Halo is no corridor crawler.

I can only hope Halo 2's outdoor levels maintain that kind of expansiveness after the other upgrade treatments it's getting.

Does nobody else see a contradiction here?
