ZOE2 question (Snow, swarm & particle effects)

high res textures, bumpmapping, particle effects, specular highlights, high polys, better lighting...
I don't think so. I think it's just some added bumpmapping. Perhaps I should list what ZoE2 does over VO so that you can dissmiss that?

Actually no. It just came to me! Halo 2 and Quake 2 are both nothing but a collection of pixels on the screen. They both look equaly impressive to me, as they both just produce some pixels on a 2D plane, after all. Holy crap, Quake 2 actually produces more pixels, and at an amazing framerate. How impressive is that!

ZoE graphics are over rated. :p

Maybe it is time to show my PS2 love again!

PS2 > DC.
VO has some ugly angular effects. :p

See, i love my PS2!

PC, what drugs are you on? :D

How the hell did you manage to start a fanboi ZoE2 vs. Halo2 fight in this thread? Please go away, and take your XB with you okay? You're off-topic. and the two games aren't even closely related, not in style, not in gameplay, not in any way actually.

*G*

Read more carefully, Grall! It's all about Quake 2 vs Halo 2 in this thread! And I must say, as far as the number of pixels go, Q2 is kicking H2's sorry butt. Yep.

Is it just me or did Konami toned down the texture variety in ZoE2?

Now everything looks greenish green?
The particle effects must have been killing PS2 texture variety. :( I would love to see how the PC port will look like(not much hope here) or at least do a ZoE3 on Xbox.

That is ZoE1. Motion blur is faptacular!!! Love em cinematic effectS! :D

Your VO screens are too small. And it is true that VO has simpler and less flashy effects than ZoE1, not too mention less polygon and cartoony static lighting. Sorry. :p

That's exactly what I was thinking... Any chance of you sending some of that stuff overhere PC? ;) Seriously, I wouldn't mind a smoke right now (far too much stress at work overhere )

I'd help you out phil, but unfortunately I don't have any left

Nah. If anything it looks more varied. There are several very different locales that I've seen so far. In contrast, ZoE1 basically took place in two different environments - various cities, and that orange looking shaft at the end of the game. Also, the overall art direction in zoe2 seems to be on whole other level.

Any new impressions............?
I heard the game is short and did not sell too well so far. The final battle with Anubis is very easy?

The game takes approx 8 hours to beat and has 20 extra missions to unlock, one of them being a gradius-like shooting level. I did not hear the game was easy, but the sales were pretty underwhelming so far, with some 40K units sold on the first day. It's still on the Japanese daily charts, though.

I can post impressins of the demo version if anyone is interested. Demo absolutely kicked all kinds of ass, btw.

Ratings friendly IGN glowing ZOE2 review is up now! :D

bling bling bling, Chap scores again. :p

Heeh! If this keeps on, i might be right with PS3 being a disaster system. Oh, in case you didnt know, IGN gave ZOE2 8.6. A good score, but no where near Halo or even PDO scores. Another PSHype failure. :p Slowdowns is bad. :(
