XBox will get Half-life 2

Noone really doubted it, all MS has to do is throw millions Valve's way. Although I would never want to play it on my Xbox.(physics and such won't be nearly as good) as the PC version.

Damn why isn't it coming to PS2 or Cube? If the minimum specs for pc are a Pentium 3 with Nvidia TNT2 then surely the PS2 and certainly the GameCube would be capable to run the game? But I know, quite a few sacrifices should be made on the graphics compared to the Xbox or pc version.

I doubt MS had to throw that much money at it... no matter what the spec sheet says, Xbox is 99% PC. Valve wouldn't miss an opportunity for an easy port to sell a million units.

What I mean't was, even if Valve did begin to even question putting it on Xbox MS would just throw them money.

If it's just a TNT2, why would there need to be any sacrifice at all for a different console version? Force of reflex statement perhaps? ;)

Pffft I'm just a poor student and my pc is too weak: pentium 3 667 Mhz with voodoo 2. But I just don't play pc games. I have a PS2 and a GameCube.

A TNT can run the game, but not without sacrifices (pixel shaders, anti-aliasing, etc)

how much main memory in the minimal specs ?

Valve will publish games for console where it will make profit! Most of PC folks have joined XB bandwagon...so it is logical that HL2 goes to XB...not to mention the PC = XB!

really a port of a pc game to the xbox is such a no brainer. I don't know why it doesn't happen more often or microsoft doesn't push for it. Most xbox users can't afford a high end pc so games like doom3 , hl2 , unreal 2k04 and other games will sell well on the xbox and cost almost nothing to port it . while other systems will take time due to diffrent tech.

on the xbox you have 64 MB shared b/w video memory and main memory.

it must not be so much straightfoward to port a game that was designed to run on a 256 MB PC.

yea i know what your saying. But all the code would be the same you'd just have to use less textures or smaller quality textures. Or more textures over again. Still easier than using 4 megs of texture cache and having to redo all the code to work on the ps2. Agreed ?
