"xBox is bulletproof!!!"

Clint Eastwood replaces his furnace door with a harddrive, maybe?

Hard drives are pretty solid. I'm not saying I'd want to stake my life on it, but I think there's a good chance it would grazing-angle deflect and a non-insignificant chance it would stop a bullet.

Chryz,

The bullet did NOT PENETRATE, which is not the same as DEFLECTED. Think about it, how can you disable the console if the bullet never broke through the casing? Besides, the guy's being charged with destruction of property, so the bullet went inside alright, that's for sure.

(Those gun-crazy Americans... *shakes head* Why does this not surprise me at all? :D)

Dio,

Harddrives are made of very thin platters of aluminium set in a die-cast aluminium housing with a sheet metal aluminium cover and a circuit board on the bottom side; very soft materials. I wouldn't count on one stopping a 9mm bullet. Maybe if you have a SCSI drive with lots of platters, but then again, some drives actually use glass platters, so... ;)

If I were Clint, I'd put my faith in solid iron. :)

This quote was acually just copy'n'pasted from the gamespot site

Xbox deflects real bullets

Irate Marylander shoots his roommates' console, but the 9mm round fails to penetrate its casing.

Oh, you mean like the standard .5mm or less RF shielding, or actually armor thick enough to warrant transportation in this class:

?

If so, I'm kinda impressed, but still more convinced the metal you speak of is nothing that would keep out a 300-ish m/s bullet.

If angle of incident is low and the bullet hit a metal plate/hardrive compartment, it could deflect. Also, consider how many types of 9mm ammo there is - he probably was firing a low-powered round.

Hehe. Classy pic! ;)

Are Xboxes cheaper than kevlar vests? We might see some changes to the budget-conscious police departments soon... :D

And you think THAT is big?? You should have seen the PROTOTYPE!

(Just kidding of course, all in good fun. And to be fair, I'm certain a gamecube would be f*cked too if one were to shoot it with a pistol.)

Nah, it's too tiny ... you wouldn't be able to hit it in the first place

Funny thread btw ... must be the friday-madness *cheers*

And now for the obligatory PS2 knock:

You wouldn't HAVE to shoot a PS2 with a pistol...! Just wait long enough and it will break on its own. ;)

Cthellis,
ROFL! That one was FUNNY!:LOL::LOL:

My PS2 is almost 1 year old now and no trouble so far (touch wood...).

Three guys in my Driver's Ed/Study Hall just had their PS2's die. >_>

Tell them to Call Sony, Sony fixes PS2's for free. It's done in less than a week too.. heh, they are fast.
