Forum link doesnt work

Thanks Shify but it was an earlier post from when Humus, found evidence that part of Doom 3's lighting interaction was originally planned to be done via shader math instead of via texture lookup. Humus re-enabled this method and modified the way it worked so that ATI hardware gained significant performance

Is that the reference you were talking about?

They don't give the exact thread title, so the best you can do is search for "Doom" in posts by Humus made before 2007. Unfortunately post and thread IDs have not been properly preserved during the upgrade from VBulletin 3.8 to XenForo 1.x, so all forum links are garbled for pre-2014 topics.

I'm pretty certain Humus's thread was purged from the Beyond3D forums DB. I can explain how I arrived at this opinion:

I started by finding an old thread complaining of forum slowness on August 10th, 2004 where folks were joking about it being either the forum software upgrade or Humus's post blowing up the internet. Now that I have a good date, a bit more Google-fu yielded a result on the Khronos.org forum where we find the very thread where Humus got his very first thought of having the R300 follow the NV30 "math path" followed by him figuring it out and posting his link to B3D on August 7th.

I've literally walked every Humus post covering all of late July thru early August 2004 and it's simply not there. If you want to retrace my steps, click this crazy URL, I can't emebed it with URL tags because of the inner braces: https://forum.beyond3d.com/search/7540/?page=8&c[older_than]=1121017390&c[users]=Humus&o=date

Wayback machine also doesn't cover anything before 2007, so I think it's well and truly gone.

If you click the original link to thread 12732, forum software redirects you to the "Upgrade system login" page: https://forum.beyond3d.com/install/index.php?upgrade/

Maybe this thread is stuck in a kind of upgrade limbo, waiting for a hero to bring it back?

The link to thread 14874 from community.khronos.org above gives me ERR_HTTP2_PROTOCOL_ERROR :???:

BTW @Albuquerque you can certianly use URLs with brackets and other formatting symbols, it works fine with regular [URL] tag syntax - you can simply paste the bare URL into the text edit form and it auto-converts to code tags:
[URL unfurl="true"]https://forum.beyond3d.com/search/7540/?page=8&c[older_than]=1121017390&c[users]=Humus&o=date[/URL]

Or use the extended tag syntax which encloses the actual URL in single or double quotes - the latter is the default behavior of the 'Insert Link (Ctrl+K)' đź”— button on the toolbar:
[URL='https://forum.beyond3d.com/search/7540/?page=8&c[older_than]=1121017390&c[users]=Humus&o=date'] Search all posts by Humus older than...[???][/URL]
