True as that may be, it is a nice design IMO, just that damned curved handle looks rediculous. If they were going for small form factor that blows it for them right there.
My defense for the "nice design" quote... it looks like some kind of futuristic server module... picture them stacked together with ethernet cables coming out of them (see I'm not crazy!!... okay so that remains to be proven).

okay, I’ll explain this…again. These pictures are prototypes of the original Xbox back in the day- not so long ago by the way.
The pic of the on on its side is a concept- meaning it wasn’t even made. The other one (which is shown in a room with people) is an early Xbox concept model. You can even see the Xbox logo on the screen behind them. if you check back at the full reviews of the Xbox when they first came out, you will notice these models and many others as well- along with controller types as well. I have EGM’s Xbox full review issue and those models, and others, are shown as concepts and prototypes. Another example is the one that looks like a leaf (much more attractive than the ugly final box). But you may dismiss that concept faster since it has a big “Xbox†logo on it.
Just to note; Xbox first model revealed was shapes like a big X with a green light in the middle that had “Direct X†written in the middle of it.
It is funny that those concepts are surfacing again on the news of Xenon- and specially when people believe them!

Er, yeah... the pics you posted are old "Xbox 1" designs (mostly) but I hardly see that the ones posted at the start of this thread are. The laptops appear to be newer design styles than what were produced when the original Xbox was being demoed, and the design is far too small for the componentry... something that wasn't seen in any other Xbox 1 concept (because they were all working boxes, and had to fit all their components).

Don't understand why you people hate so much on this poor concept/decoy prototype. I think it looks cool, I love industrial design. In fact I wish that case was made out of die-cast aluminium! I'd definitely consider buying a box looking like that (unlike the chunky, bloated POS that is the original box).

It looks ok, but only if they ditch the handles and make it from real metal (aluminum, magnesium?) and keep the size compact.
That design made from cheap silvery imitation plastic will likely ruin it, at black it looses a lot making it look plain, too big and it'll look uglier than xbox.
I really think they should give up the big overpowering "X" theme in the design, as it limits too much on what they can do with it and is tacky imo.

The next consoles are getting very hot. Handles are important when picking them up ...
