Xbox 360 Lounge Opens In Japan w/ Huge Success

My, looks familiar...something along the lines of a company store named after a piece of fruit for some reason...

Does look nice though. No reason not to imitate good design.

apple ?

Eh everyone has copied that store. The sony store by me feels like the apple store (and just as much as a rip off price wise )

> "I don't know about that . From what i understand at tgs gamers were going nuts over that 4 year old game that was both on the pc and hte ps2 and were flocking to it by the truckloads."

Well I saw Final Fantasy on the Xbox 360, and there was no more people infront of that, then any other X360 game. MS had a nice area, probably the best looking setup at the show, but the Sony section was packed with people checking out all the surprisingly good dlooking PS2 RPG's that dominated the show.

Sorry, but unless MS comes out with a truckload of RPG's, and a steady stream of them, they forget about ever getting Japan.

Anyway, nice Xbox 360 store. I wish it was open when I was there. I would have loved to see that.

That's fine by me. Just telling you how I saw things, and don't think you should get hopes up for MS chances in Japan.

Well what do you think my hopes are ? I"ve said before i expect ms to tripple thier installed base in japan . Which isn't exactly much .

Sorry, I did not realize your expectations for MS success in Japan was set so low.

When did we talk about success ?

My expectations for ms's sucess would be for them to sell 10x the units they did with the xbox . However i don't think that will happen .

Enchant Arm
Far East of Eden Ziria
Final Fantasy XI
Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
Mass Effect
Oblivion

All out in the next 2 years. And that's only what's been announced so far. If they see something from Square Enix they'd be cooking.

well actually l have seen a rerun of g4's tgs coverage couple weeks ago and morgan webb(who said stuff like ps3 proved itself to be soo much powerful than 360 during their e3 coverage) said ms had a solid show in tokyo and many japanese were interested in 360 during the show.

> "When did we talk about success?"

Sorry, wrong choice of words then.

> "I don't think Edge went to Japan for the TGS like he claims."

2 Weeks in Japan, with 1 week in Tokyo, took the Shinkansen (Bullet Train) to Kyoto, then Hiroshima, then took the train to Niigata, and then Shinkansen back to Tokyo. Had a wonderful time, seeing a beautiful country. Of course, I make these things up, just to entertain you guys.

scooby_dooby, nice list of games. Now let's see what it amounts to interms of Japanese marketshare.

Sony Style and Playstation store came well before the Apple stores started sprouting up. The MS store is unique in that it looks more like a cafe with a couple of game kiosks than an actual game store like the Playstation store in the Sony Metreon in SF.

Yes Sony Centres have been around for MUCH longer than Apple Stores, but personally i don't really see many similarities... The Apple ones are much cooler, though the Sony ones are much older...

Perhaps the point here is Sony store has been around awhile, but they've started remodelling based on Apple's lead? jvd said the one near him looked like an Apple store.

Unfortunately it was reported that there was a small accident, a lighting stand fell onto Xbox consoles and the floor packed with party people. An actor/entertainer Gamon Kawai and his friend injured their face and head.

The showroom is open until Jan. 15, 2006.

(the person holding his left cheek is apparently Kawai)

Or just remodelling based on current décor trends.
I think the look of these is more affected by what company does the interior design (with some input from the client), as I don't think Apple and Sony have their own interior design groups... or do they?

Geez... maybe MS is cursed? All that bad Karma from their escapades in the PC sector, perhaps. At least it doesn't seem too serious, no one really hurt, though with actors their face is their life...

I've got a new Sony Style store near me as well, and I have to say it looks nothing like the Apple store in the near vicinity. It may be something unique to the one near JVD, or who knows, it might not - but it doesn't seem an active decision on Sony's part to mimic the Apple stores. I would imagine if nothing else, Sony still has some confidence in their style after all. :)

PS - That's pretty random and unfortunate with the light fixture.

MS are cursed. Everything XB360 just sounds really strained at the moment. We keep hearing fo things going wrong. Maybe this much happens anyway but with modern communications we just hear more about it? I mean it's that way with natural disasters adn the like - there's no more thse days than there were, just that we get to hear about them all whereas a hundred years ago we wouldn't.

Still, it seems if something can go wrong it does go wrong for MS at the moment. I'm not going to get an XB360 as I don't want to invite the curse on my household!
