This is crazy. The console launched in November and they're are still lines like at launch.

I was just at my local Costco on opening day on Friday, and they had several skids piled up with Xbox 360 premium units (no cores to be found), but they were going fast.

Are you talking about Sony´s production numbers?? If so, that´s the number of PS3´s Sony will produce per month, but I´m fairly certain they´ll begin producing before October. :D

They said 1mil at launch, and 1mil/month after that, for 6mil total by march.

I´m fairly certain they meant 1 million per territory for launch. Honestly, do you truly believe Sony will launch worldwide with just one million units?? I know you´re the Xbox version of Teasy, but please man, that´s ridiculous.

If I remember correctly, they said 1 million for launch and that makes sence if they claim that they aim to have produced 6 miilion by march. You will not see a 3 million console launch if that is what you are hoping for...

Well, if what you say is correct, then I see little sense in a worldwide launch, it defies reason to only have 1 million units to spread between Asia, Europe, Australia, North America. Japan alone will eat up 1 million in a few days. It just does not make sense, X360´s shortage would be reduced to naught when compared to PS3´s if you are correct.

It shouldn't be as bad as the xbox360 though IF Sony gets the ramp up they expect...

I don't think Sony have actually announced launch quantities.
However Sonys goals would indicate 1-2M at launch, 3M in 2006. Only Japan and NA have been confirmed (outside of 'worldwide launch') for November IIRC, with all territories 'around November' and David Reeves (CEO of SCEE) saying 'before Christmas'.
    500k JPN + 500k NA + 500k Europe at each launch
    1.3M JPN + 1M NA + 700k Europe before Christmas

    Is my guess.

I'm hoping Sony can match the 500k PS2's they had available for North American launch in 1999.

    But I kinda doubt it.

Let's not get side-tracked people. This post is all about me. I've caved in. Just checked the local Game and they have some Core's (no Premium's unfortunately: Grrrr). I'm about to head back out to pick up a Core. I've got a list of...

    Kameo
    Condemned
    Oblivion
    GR:AW
    CoD2
    PGR3

...but my wallet and my GF suggest that I should only really get 2 of those titles. Reviews would suggest Oblivion and GR:AW. Any strong opinions on the list? (On my PS2 my fave games were: RE4, GT4, PES, GTA:VC, GoW and Ico if that's any clue.)
And as for accessories, one wireless controller and a mem card - I'd be playing on a SD JVC widescreen a few years old. :(

Get Oblivion if you like RPG's even a little, that's all I have to say about that. As for the others, I can't say since I haven't spent enough time with any of them.

I'm going to sign up for XBL Gold yearly I think: I know it'll be worth it. Just got back... I made them take off the "360's in stock" poster in the window because in-store there weren't any available. Dammit. Should've paid more attention.

But because I'm the persistent type I've ordered one online instead. Fingers crossed they live up to their word and ship same day...

Sorry for wasting your time. :(

Also depends on which RPGs he likes to play. I'd say you have to be a fan of free roaming non-lineair gameplay to like oblivion.

Not to mention that on the 360 you miss out on the wealth of mods that you can get for the PC version. I'm actually incredibly impressed by how quickly people are releasing them.

With no tearing, AA, scary as hell gameplay, cool weapons, I marked Condemned as best launch day game, and best game no one is playing. All things being equal though, nothing is bad or even questionable on your list.
