Xbox 360 Availability

Just an FYI for anyone still trying to find a 360...

In the IGN video interview with Peter Moore he discussed the improved production and 2-3x the amount of 360s etc. He went on to say that if you look in this (April 1) weekend's circulars you might find something interesting.

Well...

I was just in a Target and I asked if they had any (my bro is looking for one). The Girl behind the desk said no but then waved me closer to whisper (it was all very cloak and dagger). She said they HAVE them but they arent selling htem until Sunday because they have a big ad in the circular.

This, coupled with Moore's comments, leads me to believe that this weekend will be a bit of a re-launch of the 360 where they'll advertise quite a bit and actually have units in stores. So if youre still looking, plan on going to a major retailer like Target, BB, Kmart, CC, Walmart, on Sunday.

Just a PSA for those still in the hunt...

I've heard this from other places too... looks like if you want one and still haven't found a place that is selling their batch early, then wait til sunday.

I snagged mine on tuesday =p

Geometry wars is such a great game! (I like it more than GR:AW and Oblivion, to be honest)

Up in canada, at least in edmonton, you can almost walk in and buy one at this point. Many places got shipments last thursday & friday, futureshop, ebgames and walmart all had units, my buddy impulse bought one at walmart last thursday. Just called em up, they had 1 left in stock, and he went and picked it up.

They're definately getting there. It's hard to say if supply is still really low, or if demand is still really high, we'll have to wait for the March / April #'s to see how it shakes down.

Their all over the place now. If you use the nifty xbox 360 tracker that was created. It shows everywhere as having them in stock. Before it would show unavailable, so they are definately in stores right now.

I could have bought them yesterday from 6 different circuit cities and best buys.

In my area, Best Buy, Circuit City, Gamestop, CompUSA, and Target are all out of stock. They all say that they should have stock in "early" April.

Stopped into my local BB the other day, because their online stock indicator was showing 360s in stock at all the local stores. Guy said they were holding them till Sunday, and he said that every single BB would have them in stock on Sunday. Said it would be in the weekly ad as well, so I'm guessing we'll get to see lines at BBs for the 3rd time.

The ad is pointless. I checked 2 BBs and 1 Target yesterday. They all had about 30-40units, no more or less than the Nov15 launch. The scalpers and hardcore are going to know about this from online and will be in line way before the first ad circular hits anyone's doorstep. I drove by the Target near my house at 5am. It's already got more than 40 people in line.

What would really be nice is if MS put an end to this stupid online bundling, where you cannot buy even a backordered system without a bundle of games that you don't want and a $100 price markup. BB got sued to end the bundling, but you still can't buy a non-bundled and non-marked-up (>MSRP) Premium system online.

So, rather than queue up an order and have it filled when it comes in thru major online retailers, one must go stand in line in middle of the night hoping to scounge up a system.

4 1/2 months latter, there are still lines in front of stores.

Lets see if Sony can be a bit less screwed up this November.

Based on their projected manufacturing schedule, and everyone's assumption that there will be higher demand...they'll be more "screwed up."

That being said, I think people shoud um, maybe at least wait until the stores actually open today...and then try, you know, walking into a store and asking for one before we start criticizing MS for um, having a console that is in such high demand...

So there's still considerable demand for the X360 in the US? As far as I know I could get a Premium system from the grey importers here whenever I would want to... Strange.

I was in a EB games north of Toronto (Vaughn Mills) yesterday and the sales person said that they have some premium kits in the back. They were from people who did not pick up their preorders  . He was not a good liar. He did offer to sell one to me though.

Microsoft brought their 3rd production facility online on March 14th. Give about a 2 week delay before that increased production hits the stores, and sure enough, there should be a lot more systems showing up starting this week.

Status:

o Went to Target #1 at 7am. Had 8 units, 10 people in line already.
o Went to Best Buy, 40 units, >40 people, abort
o Went to obscure Target #2 at 7:30am. 2 people in line. Had 4 units total.

Purchased Unit #3. Mission Accomplished.

Great! Now I suppose instead of you whining about not be able to get one, we'll get to hear about how "continuously underwhelmed" you are by it.

Just a hunch. :p

But in any case, I hope you have fun with your new toy. I'm still likely going to hold out until at least the first price drop. Getting through the summer without it should be easy as I'll be busy enough...though next winter is another story...

Over here almost everywhere I go I see plenty of boxes. Just today I went to see if my Oblivion's Collector's Edition game had arrived (yes, I've still not played it) and I counted around 5 core boxes and another 4 or 5 of the HDD variety (and no, those are not empty boxes ;)

Well, I already said I was underwhelmed by the launch games (not the console) I didn't buy any games yet. Xbox Live has a shitload of demos, so I can play alot of stuff for free. Main games I am interested in right now are Top Spin 2 and Gears of War. I'll stick to the demos for everything else. Since Top Spin 2 is out, I'll probably buy it tommorow.

So yes, you may not hear me personally bitch about supply, but I have to say that 4-10 units for a target is pretty low. :)

Where have you been? 1 million units + 3 territories = Disasterous launch.
