Xbox 360 Australia/NZ launch delayed

Launched delayed by 3 weeks....

January 27, 2006 – Xbox today announced a new launch date in Australia and New Zealand for the Xbox 360™. The new launch date is 12:01am on March 23 2006.

The new launch date has been set due to unprecedented global consumer demand and short-term manufacturing issues due to component shortages stemming from challenges in ramping supply. The move ensures that the markets will have an adequate supply of Xbox 360 consoles to meet demand at launch.

Not a big delay, but still after waiting months after the PAL & "worldwide" launch... (normally we get things the same time as Europe). Issues, issues, issues...

I haven't even seen a launch lineup yet

Yeah, I went into my local EB today and they had stickers on he front of their magazines saying there was a new release date. Inside the mag though I did check the prices of the games.

But can you imagine how far behind we'd be when the PS3 is launched? 3 weeks will look like 2 hours...DAMN!

Then again, frankly speaking you're not missing much yet. There's no bloody games out for the system that's friggin worth buying, unless you're a sports freak perhaps who simply have to have this year's marginal update of the major EA titles.

Nothing extremely wrong with the 360 as a DVD player. It's not perfect, but the PS2 also wasn't perfect when I used that as my primary DVD viewing device. PowerDVD on the PC isn't perfect either I might add.

Much more decent DVD players are out now for like 60 quid...

So that's 60 quid I'm saving then. Plus not Yet Another Damn Remote, and one fewer input used on my TV, which I don't really have room to spend anyway.

Ever seen a DVD on Mac DVD player? If not just be thankful for what you have.

I was in EB the other day and they still had the old dates listed. They were also offering a *cough* 'great deal' for pre-ordering the 360... Trade in your existing xbox, and 4 recent games and save a whopping $100 off the 360. Yay. I really, really don't like EB.. but ohh well. Shame 360 is region locked, no more cheap game imports from singapore.

Mmmm I think I'll pick one up mid year anywho. Having only just spent $$$ on a big HT system, and needing a new TV too... yeah expenses expenses
