"Xbox 2 HD-DVD"

Well I wasn't talking about standalone players. Why have a $750 standalone player with a builtin Xbox? An Xbox with a different drive (HD DVD) selling for say $400 makes a lot more sense.

Well that was my point from the beginning! You took out the PC drives thing! :devilish:

What I was saying is that a premium HD DVD edition Xbox360 could easily be released next year for say $400. Since HD DVD drives for PC coming out in Sept will be retail priced at 99EUR, it wouldn't cost that much for MS to include it in the premium edition next year hence the $400 price.

YES! That's what I was saying, then you mentioned PSX and the 750 quid thing...
Oh well...

I don't really see a problem in releasing a new version of the X360, when the dust settles on this whole HDDVD mess.
They want X360 to be a media hub, a HD media hub, it makes sense to release a HDDVD version of it.
Games will all be released on DVD so that they're compatible with all X360 consoles, but at least we'll get HDDVD playback if you get the newer version.
Much like Sony releasing a new version of their PS2 to support DVDRW and Pro-Scan DVD playback, and then the shrunk PSTwo.

It can easily be done without confusing the consumers too much.
