The idea for MMC is that when you have an HD-DVD drive on your PC you can watch it on any number of extenders in the house. Also, theres a quite a few people who have HTPCs where this would be very useful.

I dont personally watch movies on my PC but if I did it i suppose HD movies would look better on a 24" widescreen monitor than DVDs do.
