Witcher 2

They said they needed to make sure it would run on consoles, which is understandable if a bit disappointing. And that explains the 1GB of memory requirement, since 0.00% of users have 8800GT+ GPU and 1GB of RAM.

Was it just me or were the clips disappointing looking? I reckon they are hiding their goods from us till the time comes for the game to be released. Nothing fascinating in terms of showing recycled footage in that video of the game. The discussion was interesting though. I eagerly await to experience the end result in my computer. :)

Yes, because as I said upstream, gaming execs will blame everyone but themselves for low sales. They could bring out a buggy game that no one wants, and they would still blame piracy rather than take the responsibility themselves.

Piracy is an easy scapegoat because:

- it can't be argued back with proper evidence (and neither do companies, but hey who cares, it's glossed over)
- it is used as an excuse to justify DRM schemes whose primary purpose is not to fight piracy, but to monetize every interaction with the media by stating that you don't own it but that you merely have a licence, which could then be used to force people to buy multiple copies of the same content. Media companies don't just like money, they particularly like control more than money
- It is a way to convince investors that the current management is not at fault for bad performance
- it becomes a perfect response as to why a dev/publisher switched to multiplat

They are hoping that a lie told often enough can become the truth.

Most likely noone else wants to try no-DRM. UBIsoft was the last major publisher to try that and it didn't go well.

Anything significantly beyond Steamworks/CD check is only going to hurt them. You have people on this forum avoiding Ubisoft's titles entirely, just because of the shenanigans they've pulled. So, not only that they've alienated a group of customers who have already bought the game, theye've lost new ones as well. If Ubi/EA and similiar companies are fine with that, then keep it going, one day they'll smarten up. They better not come with some silly ideas like using GFWL.

Some new footage of the gameplay, showing off the inventory and a detailed explanation of one of the quests:

While watching that, I kept my eye on the map. The ability to roam around seems less linear than the original. There wasn't a single loading screen in the demonstration, with multiple transitions to different environments. Plus, I saw Geralt actually step foot in water!

Can't wait!
I like new combat system. It seems more realistic with just slow down of time instead of complete pause.
A lot of new, better things in Witcher 2

Seen 2 new videos amongst them the Witcher 2 part of the one Dresden posted and it looks amazing and artwork is incredible. I also see superb physics, SSAO, godrays and more. Amazing and the dialogs are very detailed and extensive.

I forgot to add, when the first "Witcher" was released, it was censored in the US. I had to order my copy from the UK. However, I forgot which website I ordered it from. If that's the case again, what are some reputable online vendors that operate out of the UK?

Besides, I wouldn't mind having another game with the PEGI rating system on it :)

You don't want digital download?

I have in the past just used an open ssl proxy to place an order (checking the site certificate to make sure the proxy wasn't a MITM) at Direct2Drive's UK site (wasn't for the price difference, their store was just being a bitch ... the game should have been available in the EU but it kept complaining, I really don't understand how those guys stay in business ... another common rejection for not being able to order on their EU site is because you have a RIPE issued address, only the main fucking EU RIR).
