Civilization VII

Shit, my 4070 will struggle to over 140fps. That'll get me killed for sure.
yeah its not like this is a turn based game or anything

actually, for me this is the fastest loading civ game ever at launch

Cool. My desktop's no slouch but I'm also planning to play a bit on Deck as I'll be away later next week.

It's funny that the last couple of Civ's have found themselves as benchmarks. Not least as it's Gamebryo as well

This is kind of an example of how I feel hardware enthusiast engagement is overly dominated by the GPU wars.

From an actual gaming perspective I'd think if you prioritized initial performance metrics of any sort it if you had to choose it would be CPU performance with respect to turn times.

my first CTD in civ7, it came from loading an auto save (pro tip if you dont immediately want to join an ongoing war, do not form an alliance with someone currently at war)

Whenever I see screenshot of this the UI just throws me off. It looks like a fake rendition someone made of what Civ7 ā€˜couldā€™ look like.

Idk, imo the ultimate Civ experience for me is Civ5 with the Vox Populi mod. And I will forever thank the Civ franchise for getting me into Paradox games lol.

yeah the ui is the weakest part of the game but its wholly fixable, the mechanics are good and fun

I didn't get the "deluxe" edition and just started playing today, and played a game through the first age.
I think it's mostly fine. UI is indeed need quite some love, but I agree most are fixable and some looks like bugs.
Almost all Civilization games (at least the "modern" ones) all are "controversial" at release and almost all have their respective fans later. They are just different in separate ways.

I'm about 50% of the way through my first age and enjoying it so far. Not sure if I made the right decition to leave it on an easy difficulty. It doesn't necessarily help you learn the new/adjusted mechanics.
