Will the next-gen processor use copper wiring or interconnet

I'm also curious as to the possibilities of GPU's using copper wiring? If they don't want to go to a multi core design. Copper is a better conductor than aluminum, its cheaper and doesn't get as hot.

There was a post in the gaming age forum about ATI next GPU having up 500M transistors. Which would allow them to increase the number of pipelines , from 16 to 24. The use of copper wiring would reduce heat.

Is it possible or is their major drawbacks to using copper on a GPU?

AFAIK Most high performance chips DO use copper. The only problem with copper is with smaller processes. There is an article in here that touches on it.
