I wonder if this has any impact on North American third party support from Japanese devs. Maybe Nintendo could ask Japanese devs to take some chances on exclusive games due to how well they are doing in Japan?Kind of a good will gesture of sorts.
Otherwise what happens in Japan is meaningless to me as a Wii owner in NA AFAIK.

Why should nintendo ask for a sign of good will? they should be happy a large amount of devs finally is interrested in their platform after n64 and gc. What happens in Japan is also of some importance for NA/EU. After all a fair amount of games ''we'' play are from japan.

Wow......

Wii: 270,974
PS3: 41,268

I wonder if that will correlate here in the states when June NPD #s come out in a week or so.

If you're a developer on the forum pass the word to your publishers that Wii in first few months of sales is doing better than ps2 did in the us and japan. Neogaf is your friend.

Devs are insane if they bother to stick with 360 or PS3 as primary platforms if this continues.

Let me ask you guys, do Wii owners where you are actually by games? I did an 'informal' poll at work where most everyone has a 360 or Wii (a good mix of nerds and family people). It seems like 360 owners by a lot of games, but Wii owners have Wii Sports and Zelda, that's it. More concerning to a 3rd party like us is that they don't seem interested in buying more games any time soon. Is this what y'all are seeing where you are? I'm asking genuinly and not as flamebait. The Wii is coming up more in our meetings, and I'm wondering if Nintendo will be the only one making money from the whole thing.

My friend faf has more Wii games than he does 360, though he just got a 360, anecdotal evidence. BTW 3rd parties on Wii are doing better worldwide than sony is with ps3. Outside of the us and europe 360 is garbage for 3rd parties, along with the recent failure rate rumors ms is in deep poo once Wii catches up Worldwide and by some estimates it already has. Think Wii doesn't do for games go ask ubisoft how they feel about the performance of rayman and redsteel to all them bad ports they released. Ask EA how this generation nintendo consumers are buying their products. 3rd parties want products to sell maybe they should treat nintendo systems not like an afterthought in the face of good quality nintendo products in the face of the most aware consumer base in gaming.

wii owners compared to 360 owners don't buy nearly as many games from the people I know. Most of them use it as their GC box but have like 1-2 wii sport or mario party like games. Multiplayer games ARE funner on wii in my opinion and that's it's main use. A lot of them got RE4 though. Most of them really got Wii's for SSBB and Mario and nintendo franchises so they really need to get big developers to do big projects on wii. Hopefully there are announcements at E3. It is really barren on wii though.

I own 10 Wii games already. Mario Party 8 just set some sort of sales record for the franchise, so I'd imagine that people are buying something. Then again, MP8 is a Nintendo game, it's going to sell regardless.

That's not exactly a fair comparison in the way that Xbox 360 has a unusually high attach rate. However, it is valid in the since of direct comparison. I think third parties are more interested in the profit they make however than exact sale totals. Games for the Wii don't have to sell as much to make an equal amount of money, the game develop is 1/2 and even 1/3 the cost in most cases. I believe that by this time next year Wii will be a loved system from 3rd parties.

I own more games for the 360 (30 since launch), but the Wii is catching up fast (14 games already).

I bought nine games for the 360 and 6 games for the Wii. But I haven't bought a game for the 360 since the Wii came out. I think that streak will end when Bioshock is released.

My only reservation about Bioshock is having to go back to analog stick aiming after getting used to the super accurate aiming of Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. The likely amazing story and the atmosphere will make up for it though.

well I'm sure big developers willl make major titles for 360 and PS3 as well as on Wii but if it's a small-budget, unique game I don't think anbyody would care about the graphics.

well the bad thing is that it's probably going to get most of the games (if sales trends continue). It's basically going to have the userbase of the ps2 but be by far the easiest in it's generation to make games for. I don't know how much wii will hold back (if at all) development on the other platforms best looking games but I've seen some licensed-movie-games-that-come-out-the-tuesday-before-the-opening-weekend that look better on wii then on the other platforms (basically they look really horrible).

Keep in mind when comparing how many games 360 and Wii owners buy you need to keep in mind a few things. One, being not many games have actually come out for Wii. Two, because very few worthwhile games to buy get released during the current time with a rush of worthwhile games before Christmas (example all the games I personally would have likely bought for the 360 came out before last Christmas). Third, not many developers thought the Wii would do well due to its low performance hence didn't bother setting up projects for it.

Keep in mind as well that B3D members are probably about as far from the typical Wii customer demographic as you can get.
