Instead of just talking nonsense perhaps you should shut up and read up. Turkey has what they call a "national security council" which is led by the military. This "council" has absolute power to overrule the civil government's decisions. If that's a western democracy then I'm happy to be called a euro-elitist by the likes of you.

Did some quick googling and found out about 80% of german military casualties were caused by the russians. Thing is tho we have to remember is that it wasnt russia alone but the soviet union... 11 countries under stalins rule which was an empire about 2x the pop of russia alone.

Still I get the impression the soviets had 3-4 x the armies that the western allies had when they met in germany.

Nope, The russians were in a hell of a fight. Everyone fought with whatever they had at one point. One of the reasons they had so many casualities.

The point being that yes russia had more troops on the field, but they needed them to make up for a lack in other areas.

At the onset yes the russians were undermanned and underequipped... but by spring 45 it was a heavily equipped force and large. The days of human wave attacks at machine gun nests well behind them...

I believe I have read the edited replys (some of them atleast). I found them funny (the one referring to JR as fat). Up to that point CosmoKramer had done nothing "uncalled" for. It looked to me like JR did jump the gun and start editing the posts. I can't say I saw it all but it seems to me that JR has a thin skin and should maybe eat a good helping of some of the crap he dishes out.

Which brings up the topic just how far do you let a democracy go? (Not that b3d is)

Secondly, I've been called a Nazi, a homosexual, child beater, fat (I guess at age 39 being 5'11", weighing 195 lbs, and having a 35" waist is fat) etc., so calling me thin skinned is a bit off the mark. Cosmo crossed the line and I've repeatedly allowed his attacks on me in the past to avoid the appearance of abusing my forum rights, but constantly labelling me as a child beater when I've never once struck a child is a bit much. I wouldn't expect other forum members to tolerate such personal attacks, so why should I?
