Not easier per se, but at least you'd have MSAA in combination on one side and float filtering on the other as just two examples.

xxx made a couple of more points; while I can fall asleep with the possible differences (I have a hard time to see) between simple bloom effects and float HDR in SS2 for example, I'd think that float HDR implementations like in future UE3 engine based games and others will make a significant difference; what exactly will be more ideal for those type of games?

Float HDR during the DX9.0 era was merely a toe in the water.
