then it may be able to come close, maybe within 90%?

Close to what?
Do we always, once in a while, have to start one of thoses useless, baseless, driven only by rose tinted glasses visions and Sony basher, discussions about the incredible and unmatched power of this magic device known as Dreamcast?

BTW everybody knows that Dreamcast can do GT3/4, MGS2/3, Jak and daxter, Silent Hill 3, Zoe2, Halo2, Resident Evil 4, Doom 3 etc...
That's a fact, nobody want to discuss it anymore. Too many trolls have already been feeded with thoses questions about the almighty Dreamcast.

I seriously hope that, this time, nobody falls in the trap, the flame/trollbait is too obvious... really...

Huh? Maybe you should read the thread topic?

Anyway my response was based on this:

I would ask it more like this: suggesting a developer had four years, all the funds in the world and a development team consisting of 200 persons, and had to develop GT4 or MGS2/3 for Dreamcast that is as good as the PlayStation 2 version now, would it be possible?

BTW why are you singling out my post? I wasn't the one who brought up the GT3/4 comparison. I'm just supporting it. Regardless maybe you should reread the thread topic again. ;)

I did read the title and the thread topic, PC Engine.
The possibility that the actual Dreamcast could or not push a game like GT4 or MGS3 has nothing to do with "What could have been for Dreamcast...".
The thread was/is about what would happen, on the hardware side, if sega launched the Dreamcast later... That's it.

Berserk and Evil_Cloud off topic questions were not meant to be flamebait (At least , not intentionally ;) ). They were answered (Times and times.. and times before).
No need for a "If you remove all the strenght of the engine and replace it by better filtering, slightly better colorful textures, halve the framerate then Dreamcast could do it" scenario again, again, again, again and.... guess what... again. :p

* little reminder  * As i said, the DC could render any game... ANY game, and that's a fact, written in the stone, forever and ever.

Well if you hadn't used TDLM as some end all be all benchmark for DC capabilites while ignoring what Lazy said about not maxing out the hardware, we wouldn't have this discussion. Maybe you should look in the mirror and ask yourself who really went off topic.

TDLM exist, and has never been (and will never be) surpassed on DC, concerning racing games. Talking about "Maybe/if/would" with the word Dreamcast in the same sentence has already been done before. Too many times before.

If someone has something new to show about Dreamcast then discussions are welcome. If someone has only "IF/imagine/whould/maybe with/I heard from MH developers" Dreamcast classics then let it go, it's old, it grown tired, it all over now.
If Melbourne House actually showed (even internally at Infrogrames, thing they did not) their infamous DC renderer using field rendering, then maybe, people will talk with interrest about the issue. But they didn't.

BTW Melbourne House couln't equal, let alone surpass, GT3 on PS2 (Apples to apples). How in the world do you think those guys might surpass it on DC?
Err... Forget about that, DC is superior to PS2 in every ways, i forgot about that silly fact.

For real!!

Anyway i'm leaving the thread to what it's supposed to be, a possible Sega "Super Dreamcast" being released at the same time/price, the PS2 hardware was. Not DC could do whatever the PS2 could do, only if you change it all Redux.

well, it mattered to you when you said TDLM was a port

And TDLM wasn't a port on the Dreamcast? It may be considered a completely different game than the other iterations of the game with the same name. But it was originally a port, and one that was made into its own game no doubt.

It did? Please explain if you can...

;)

Edit: Still waiting for answer...
.....and I'll keep you pondering that answer yourself.... hoping it'll keep you occupied ... ;)
