I am in agreement with that summary of the gaming experience so far with that game. I was watching my roommate play it a little bit and he loved the game to death but it was just so boring...and underwhelming...ugh I just cannot agree with you any more than I already am.
Honestly, it hasn't changed much. I've not completed several planet's storylines within the galaxy and explored quite a few others, but things haven't become any more impressive so far. The combat is mostly the same, only now I've found so many random ultra-powerfull weapons and maxed out all my skills so I basically just tap a few keys and the room before me full of enemies just turns into a room full of corpses with little to no effort.
It's nice to be able to explore the various character's backgrounds but in the end it's all very sterile and methodical as to how you gain this information. Everyone has the same question trees, and the responses are all very much the same, just with their own take on their history. Dialogue during cutscenes is, still, rather generic and lifeless... The animations and camerawork are great, and the actual sound effects and such are done really nicely too (shotguns, sniper rifles, assault rifles - they all sound pretty nice), but everything else is a bit 'meh'.
The storyline is also pretty straightforward and so far hasn't entertained with any twists or major strides of originality... It's just... generic. I DO love reading through the Codex on all the technology and history of the 'gameworld' though, that's really nice.
I get the impression that a large majority of people played (and perhaps by extention enjoyed) this game based solely on the fact that there was (new and exciting at the time) sex scenes to be gained. Because this really just isn't a standout game otherwise. Nice visuals, nice sound, boring dialogue, cookie cutter storyline and MMO levels of grind & fetch-and-retrieve missions. Knights of the Old Republic seemed to do everything this game did a long time ago, and much better at that.
