What are you playing now? [2007-2018]

Got Far Cry 3 for Christmas and finished the first island.
I killed Vaas and now I have to kill Hoyt. I was a little surprised when Jason decided to stay on the island.
It looks incredible, but the game's use of MSAA makes your frame rate plummet, so I've been forcing FXAA through the control panel. I have a feeling I've almost finished the game, so I'm looking for something new. I wanna try an Assassin's Creed game, but I don't know which one. I was thinking about Revelations. Any suggestions?

Id start with ac2 and work up from there since the stories all follow on from each other. Ideally you'd start from 1 but its not as good as the later games - even though its still an excellent game in its own right imo.

I'm replaying AC as first play-through was on XBOX many years ago so doing it properly on PC brings some value. Then I will move to AC2 and so on. I liked first game even though it was repetitive at times it still was awesome on many levels (pun intended). Graphics and animations were and still are very good and I'm enjoying revisiting Damascus and other cities with brilliant view distances and lots of detail.

AC1 is definitely still very impressive. The engine was noticeably improved in AC2 and onwards as with the synchronization on tower tops in AC1 I get a hitching at the end of the camera circle that isn't in the sequels (1680x1050 4xMSAA on 7870 2Gb). AC2 doesn't feel as repetitive as the first title but they're all fun and worth playing from the very beginning for the storyline as they literally start right at the end of the previous one.

Not a game to play without a controller either.

Well I was playing a lot of Borderlands 2, but when I hit the level cap, it kind of stalled me out. What is the point in a loot-and-levelling game when you can't level up, can't get new skills or better gear? No more levelling or better loot until Gearbox raise the level cap.

Instead I've been playing Torchlight 2 (a game I put aside for BL2), and that's got me all the way to two playthroughs and the level 100 cap. I'm now farming the Mapworks for top level gear, and I'm considering an unheard of (for me) third playthrough. It's full of avaricious gear collection and monster killing.

I once played the third Spyro game four times through, not that long after it came out(like three months?), 100%ing it each and every fucking time. Since then, I've never been able to finish any save I start on it. I quasi-literally ODed on it.

...I can't stop playing f2p ipad games >_<

worst part is, the ones I haven't given up on are the ones I wish I could pay more for for more CONTENT. A lot of monetization schemes are either retarded or I'm too gamery to understand the market. Tavern Quest, solid but just as it's getting tempting to buy gems, game's basically over. Doubly so for Pocket Planes - great little time waster btw. Triply so for Flight. The list goes on and on but most games aren't worth mentioning.

Playing Crysis campaign. First time. Playing with very high settings at 1080p, but no AA.

Dunno what all this talk is about, but graphics are okish in comparison to mighty BF3 imo. I tried it out and switched between BF3 MP and Crysis SP a few times...it clearly shows the age of Crysis and I think that Crysis 2 graphics are way better than Crysis graphics...just my opinion.

Furthermore: are there sometimes infinite respawn enemies? It seems to me that sometimes I have to rush through to the next checkpoint to get rid of the infinite respawns...which is kind of lame. And I feel really underpowered with my suit. So far, I like the SP in Crysis 2 a lot more...will play more to see if it gets better...

Your comparing it to BF3, the best looking game ever made, released in 2011 so its obviously going to pale next to that. Id say its still a toss up between crysis 1 and crysis 2 maxxed out though. Different art styles so its difficult to directly compare. Id prob give the nod to c2 though. And no, there are absolutely no respawning enemies in crysis.

You realize that the first Crysis was released at the end of 2007, right? It's five years old. Crysis came out at the same time as the RV670 and actual several months before the G92 debut. And somehow you're comparing it to BF3 that came out a year ago and was targetted at video cards that were three generations newer? And you wonder why it might be "ok-ish"?

Given that it's five years old and you feel that even so much as compares to BF3 in an "ok" way says a whole lot about the staying power of that game, IMO.

Furthermore: are there sometimes infinite respawn enemies
I do not believe so; you place each individual enemy in the editor, there are no "enemy spawners" last I recall. I specifically remember playing through Crysis specifically looking for every enemy on every level, killing them all, and then wandering as I saw fit through the world.

Well of course I know that Crysis is effing old. I just was curious and had high hopes because of all the "Crysis is still best looking game" humbug one can occasionally read on gaming forums.

So I tried it and I think indeed that it just looks old in comparison to Crysis 2 and especially BF3...no offence, just my opinion.

I also wondered about the "so good campaign". My buddy just told me that I am now in the campaign where the fun starts (just met the scientist and everything seems to freeze). So I am curious if it will get better with respect to gameplay from this point on.

There might not be infinite respawn enemies, but I had to enter a village to find some documents, and at the entrance of the village there were some stationary heavy machine guns. And everytime I shoot one, it took about half a minute until another one started firing again. After a few tries, I just figured that it is best to rush through (a la COD infinite spawn enemy sections) to get to the place I need...not sure if it was infinite respawn, but ok. Furthermore, I constantly feel weak and underpowered with my suit as its battery just does not last long enough imo. In Crysis 2 I felt like a god in comparison...but hey, it still makes some fun and has good enough graphics to have me hooked...so I am looking forward to play more. But at the moment I think that Crysis 2 is way better with respect to graphics, gameplay and action.

add othe following codes to the "diff_easy.cfg", "diff_normal.cfg", or "diff_hard.cfg" file in the "\crysis\game\config\" directory to activate the corresponding cheat function.

No energy loss g_suitCloakEnergyDrainAdjuster = 0
No energy cost g_suitRecoilEnergyCost = 0

I think I know the part you mean (with the petrol station?) and it definately doesn't have respawning enemies. There are a lot of them however and naturally if you kill someone manning their primary defenses, someone else will take over. If you carried on killing them though they would eventually run out. Sneaking past the guns and slaughtering everyone in the base from within is much more fun though :devilish:

Incidentally, if you've just got to the point were everything freezes, then the general consensus is you've passed the best of the game and it's downhill from there. That said though, I'd say the gameplay gets more Crysis 2 like from that point onwards so maybe you'll prefer it. I don;t think Crysis 2's gameplay even begins to approach the first half of Crysis, but it's probably as good or better than the second half.

Furthermore, I constantly feel weak and underpowered with my suit as its battery just does not last long enough imo..

You might want to consider changing your play style. The fun of Crysis IMO was using stealth and stalking each of your enemies one at a time until everyone is dead. It's not really designed for running and gunning your way through at top sprint. The suits power is pretty well balanced for that kind of stealth play.

Man you wanting to make me go and play it again!

I've yet to actually complete the main quest in Skyrim even though I've rerolled my character twice for no other reason than just messing around. Sooooo, I'm GOING to finish Skyrim, and then I really want to play Crysis 1 again with all the modern hardware just because I have such fond memories of it.

Let's see if five year old engine technology is as archaic looking as it sounds :)

Ha ha ha, how cool! For me, it is exactly the same: when I hear people talking about a game I already have played...it makes me play the game again :)

Warframe.

This is an absolutely amazing F2P coop FPS game. It's basically like Diablo with the whole loot collecting. Like an MMO with component farming (if you want to craft something instead of paying cash for it). Can solo or better yet run missions coop. The shooting mechanics are solid. Melee is decent.

And best of all, it's coop and not competitive multiplayer. I just can't get into competitive multiplayer anymore. Game is still in somewhat closed beta (easy to get a BETA key still), and obviously still in developement with changes happening somewhat frequently.

But I've sunk around 15-20 hours into it in the past few days. It may eventually get old as the level graphics are still limited to basically one set. Hopefully in the future they'll implement more level sets (they've hinted that another one is being worked on).

At times it has reminded me of the original Doom with a near constant stream of enemies coming at you (especially on Raid missions).

Levels are also semi-random. There's a limited amount of level "building blocks" that are mixed and matched. So while levels are randomly generated, there is a bit of sameness due to the limited number of building blocks that they currently have.

For a F2P game there's only a few things that cannot either be bought with in game currency or crafted with a combination of in game currency and material farming. Hence, no pay to win. Although there are certain things that have to be purchased. The in-level revive items. You get 4 free per day. Once you run out, you have to wait til the next day or buy more with cash.

Regards,
SB

Playing Portal 2, and man the game looks so bland ! is there any way to spruce up the graphics? How can Valve release such graphics for a PC game in this time and age and get away with it? I mean, I understand simplistic design, but this looks more like simpliestic graphics! With nothing much in terms of geometry around me, atleast put in some uber cool textures or add POM or something. !
